Don't let anyone put you in a box as a black man. There's no such thing as "cac" music - literally, because they haven't created jack shyt in this country musically lol. I like older rock and metal, but I got zero knowledge about new rock/metal...seems like the genres are dead/irrelevant. I listen to alternative shyt. I'm a Bjork stan. I listen to jazz more than rap.
:manny:

Read as much as you can, and listen to as much diverse music as you can. It'll expand your mind, taste, vocabulary, everything.

Lemme note that whites get pushback from among themselves if they deviate from the default rock/country. Best believe they gonna be ostracized if 21savage or kendrick is playing in their family homes during thanksgiving. There are sub-sects of them that embrace rap the same way there are subsects of black people in rock concerts or white jazz venues.

Plus i think black music is a phase during white people's rebelous phase.
Just to inform you bro, rock music was invented by black people and also that country music has black roots.

This is not the 80s or 90s anymore
Kids don’t get pressed over a lot of shyt that:flabbynsick:gang did back in the day
You had to secretly listen to alternative, rock, country, etc around the homies then
Kids are way more open in musical taste now
People in general are more open
Pharrell/N.E.R.D. lowkey changed that thought process in the 2000s
But of course this the coli, home of revisionist history
And nikkas was proudly listening to No Doubt, Jimi Hendrix, Korn and Shania Twain all out in the open :Kd:

Back in the 80s and 90 if the music was dope it was dope but I think once the gangsta era then there began to he more definitive lines between what was seen as acceptable within Black culture. But I think its going back to the way it was. We are on a headphone culture as opposed to a boombox culture.

I tried to tell the OP that other people's perception shouldn't be a factor when deciding what you are entertained by as a grown person... maybe everybody else echoing that sentiment here will convince OP now
