Whats funny is, the artists who last are the ones who hold out. Jay is 18 yrs strong as a signed artist.... no freebies, very few mixtapesConsumers want content quicker . The creative process has been suffering because of the trying to stay relevant struggle
What has happened is artists have traded money/quality/legacy for relevance/attention/cosigns. Brehs would rather put out garbage for free and be talked about, than sit back and figure out how to monetize and optimize their music, even if it means losing out on short term "buzz" (one of the most overrated things in the game now). And much of the focus is on presentation which is why a lot of times you might see a new artist before even hearing their music. Everything is backwards.
