Consumers want content quicker . The creative process has been suffering because of the trying to stay relevant struggle
Whats funny is, the artists who last are the ones who hold out. Jay is 18 yrs strong as a signed artist.... no freebies, very few mixtapes

What has happened is artists have traded money/quality/legacy for relevance/attention/cosigns. Brehs would rather put out garbage for free and be talked about, than sit back and figure out how to monetize and optimize their music, even if it means losing out on short term "buzz" (one of the most overrated things in the game now). And much of the focus is on presentation which is why a lot of times you might see a new artist before even hearing their music. Everything is backwards.

Simple answer, it's harder to be original when almost all forms entertainment have been done before.

The way people feel about 90's rap is the same way people feel about rock from the 70's & 80's.

ive never seen anybody say any of this chit ever, aside from the "parent hood" part.

and the difference between the tootsie roll and ***insert current song by non-rappin ass rappers*** is that songs like the tootsie roll were held in their proper perspective. as opposed to today, where the 69 boyz would be viewed as serious contenders, and nominees on mtv's hottest mcs list.

i like a few chief keef & waka waka songs, but its kinda hard to enjoy em when they try to put them at the forefront of the rap game. and you go on these forums and you see a bunch of lil twerps making threads calling their albums classic.

but why am i wasting my time? you already know better. youre just trying to play devil's advocate. and probably fishing for daps. thats corny.

Ay Wacky, don't you have a "Sister, Sister" Appreciation Thread or somethin' to work on?

I ain't fishin' for daps... didn't we have this convo before? If I said it I meant it.

None of them D4L, Soulja Boy, Keef, etc. nikkas were ever positioned at the forefront of the rap game. They got their lil' one or two hot records off, had a strong enough buzz to get some coverage... and soon as them songs disappeared, they became footnotes. Just like a lotta "hot for 6 months" nikkas of the past and present. It's just easier to give the older flash-in-the-pan shyt a pass... cause it's old. It comes out today, nikkas would use it as an example of why hip-hop isn't our culture and it's brainwashing the kids and all that other shyt. No "proper perspective", no "it' cool for what it is meant to be"... just rants on how terrible hip-hop has fallen. Say I'm wrong.

Music - yep, quality went down across the board...i guess if you're into electronic music, it's grown, but if you like real instrumentation, and quality content, you're up shyt creek. People are more into production than the actual person on the track and the lyrics, i grew up playing msuic and feel you need all three.

TV - there are actually a lot of good shows, most aren't network shows and the sitcom is struggling...and black TV is all but gone, but dramas, suspense, and other hour-long formats are pretty good...cable shows are :banderas: right now

Sports - the NBA isn't as GOAT as it was in the 90's, but it's much better than it was in the 99-05 era, NFL...you're trippin

Movies - they suck, you're either part of a blockbuster actions/sci-fi franchise (taken from a previous era/comic), a YA adaptation, or a remake/re-boot, there are very few mainstream original movies, not to mention having the same white bro-y actors and the same blondes in every comedy/rom-com (how are you fukking 50 still playing the quirky single chick...stop)

TV got better, there are shows today that are just as good as movies, if not better.

Music...ok I'll give you that but there's good stuff out there if you look for it. Stay away from radio and avoid all music related award shows.

Only thing that has gotten objectively better over the years is porn and it's availability.

People in the 80s and 90s were saying the same thing about stuff not being as good as it was in the 50s and 60s. All the entertainment today is still fresh in your mind so you remember all the wack shyt. There were plenty of shytty movies, music, and tv shows in the 80s and 90s, it's just that no one talks about them anymore so you forgot them.

In 2044 someone's gonna make a thread asking why entertainment isn't as good as it was in 2014. By then no one'll remember today's garbage.

What were your ways to get the scramble to get a little clear?.

I used to adjust the tuning on my tv to see some ass for a quick second. If I had an illegal cable box, it had a red button in the back and if you kept pressing it, sometimes the picture would halfway clear up for second. shyt was pathetic.:to:
