Plus to add, I think when you look at organizations out West, most of them have been run better then their eastern conference counterparts.
Aside from Miami, Indiana, & Detroit and maybe to a lesser degree NJ/Brooklyn.....most teams have had numerous front office overhauls, which in turn leads to differing/changing philosphies, etc.

For those in the ATL...correct me if I am wrong, but that ownership group down there is one of the worst in the league?

They were at one point. The problem with Atlanta has always been shyt management. When we had Nique, we had the current NYK type of GM. You know, get a Melo(Nique) and put him around nikkas who ain't good enough. Then instead of tanking, they signed Deke and Mookie and became a very good regular season team who was terrible in the playoffs. Then we tired to not tank again with clowns like J.R. Rider, SAR, and Big Dog Robinson. Then we finally tanked with one of the worst GM's in NBA history with BK. He had one good top lotto pick in Horford and got bums like Marvin, Shelden and Childress.
Sund came and just resigned everyone.
Ferry cleaned house and is our first respectable GM since, ever
We did sign Dr. J but the NBA was threatening fining us like 10k a game since Milwaukee had Dr. J rights.
Basketball reasons. That would have been Pistol Pete and Dr. J on the same team.
Honestly, ASG sucked ass for awhile but they seems to finally just step out of the way and let Ferry do the damn thing.

We got a good fanbase. The problem is we had a lot of transplants and nikkas who never been Hawks fan from Day 1 but are Lakers, Celtics, Bulls, Lebron, Shaq, etc fans and never been out of the state of GA. NBA Basketball is like NFL Football for us. When we are respectable, people care. Since we are almost never respectable nationally, go figure. We are the most hated franchise on the coli.

I'm not talking about the finals though, the top teams in both conferences have been pretty even. Its why the 4-8 seed type teams in the east have had consistently worse records for such a long period of time.

Atlanta got dimes like this that would give the 15th nikka on the roster some action, I'd beg to be traded there if I didn't play for L.A or Miami.

It's as simple as the West drafting better players in recent years (past 15 or so). Duncan, Kobe, Durant, Dirk, Gasols, Paul, Griffin, Westbrook, Curry, etc. Teams like Philly and Atlanta have been horrible or unlucky drafters for years. That's how 4-8 of the West ends up better.
