baby, that was the old me
Offense tanked when he left the floor, but that had a lot to do with them not having any other options. They've now added Hayward and Tatum so that should be less of an issue. On the other hand, IT will still be a defensive liability and with Bradley gone, that's one less person to cover for him.

Offense outweighs defense. Ain't no liability if u get points back & more

I think he has a lot of potential and a lot of you guys are unfairly hating on him

But his range and passing looks to be possiblly elite at times

I'm betting if you looked up curry high school film you may of have all the same questions about athleticism and weight

Gonna have to see how his year goes not playing with his brothers at chino

He's a 15 yr old junior and has always played against older comp. He will turn 18 right when he steps on a college campus and potentially drafted still being 18 if he lives up to his hype.

I think his dad will get him right as far as defensive effort over the next couple of years. He was just calling him out the other week on it after that AAU game. Told him straight up that he's too comfortable with his brothers success and not putting in his own work.

Also if he actually played against his age he would dominate even more. LaVar doing the right thing, so those who don't "get it" will look stupid. Only thing stopping LaMelo is his own self (which hopefully that won't happen". You'd be a fool to not see the kids potential. Also playing against older comp will make him that much better + the resources through his bro being in the league.

Even the kid HS isn't stacked, and his AAU team stayed close to the compton squad and Zion's team who are much older & bigger.
I swear y'all are dumb AAU games have age restrictions. Lamelo will be 16 in a couple of months as most juniors are 16 17. All y'all are d riders for the balls everytime they play someone or lose oooo the other team was sooo much Older bigger lamelo only 13 blah blah blah blah

Dude is 6'5" and isn't even rim grazer status when attacking the rim. Not particularly long despite his height, on top of lacking lateral quickness and explosiveness which makes him a huge defensive liability. He's actually NOT a good shooter, and you'd know this if you looked up his percentages throughout his career thus far, but part of this is also due to the fact that he has possibly the worst shot selection in basketball history. Turnover prone, bad decision maker, and quite frankly should actually be lower than 18 and would be if his last name wasn't Ball.

Nah his ranking is legit

Also he's about to be a junior and he's only supposed to be a sophomore,he'd be the #1 player in his right class

nikka a chucker bruh
no defense
gets punked by other ranked players
pulls up from 40 feet when they're down by 20

Yoooooooooooo

Him attempting the game winner from damn near half court has me dying. Breh wiped his shoes like four times while dribbling then did the weakest most bullshyt half assed attempt to create space before chucking up the would be game winner while his teammate was wide open next to him only to brick the shot comically.

His coach should be shot.

Add that to everybody knowing the kid is a grade A douchebag. If they weren't "famous" nobody would care about him
he's famous because of his game :dead:
the "ball brothers" were always a package way before lavar ball was popular.

i thought he would be top 5. he's better than number 2 zion in his class
because he's not athletic and he doesn't play much defense because he's not that athletic and he just doesnt want to. so sorry he doesnt deserve to be top 3 in my opinion.

but i kill his rating based on not playing defense more than athleticism. you're born athletic. you dont have to work on it. you can but you dont have to if you're born with insane athleticism. and that will work in high school and somewhat in college. but if you get to the pros you better be super athletic and huge like bron or else it wont work like it use to and you will need to be able to do more than out run and out jump the defense.

He reminds me of Jordan Poole. Interested to see where his game is at when he is 18.

Wrong, I watched the game against Zion immediately after it went up, and as I stated I have seen 5 or so other games than those two in full plus other clips. Some with Chino Hills and some with the AAU team.
:francis:

You're clearly diccriding him so I'll break this all the way down for you one time.

No one is saying he can't put up points or get some gaudy assist totals. There is a difference in how those things actually transpire.

Yes he is very good in transition and can get to the line and hit some shots given a lions share of attempts to do so. OP wanted to know why he is ranked 18th not 1st and I provided a list of things that he does not do at an elite level. You coming in here and saying what he does do well doesn't negate what I said. This was being discussed in the context of the top prospects.

Him having a superior handle to a run of the mill midwestern cac means nothing. His handle is simply not on the level of a Collin Sexton.

He is a capable passer, but Lonzo is cast as a transcendent passer, LaMelo is not that and should not be characterized as such.

When I say he does nothing off ball I mean as a slasher cutting to the basket, obviously he can get open well enough to get a pass outside of the arc for him to get into his own offense.
