real talk we all diss nintendo and rightly so, but nintendo is for the gamers. every innovation they've had has been about playing games. not all of them were good ideas but they were for us. the same in all honesty can't be said about sony and microsoft.

They definitely dropped the ball when it came to the virtual console selection on the Wii shop channel. But have you seen the new Smash Bros for Wii U? I might have to buy one just for that game :whew:

That shyt right there pisses me when talking about Nintendo to people. The always become irrational nostalgics. IF Nintendo dies, all that old shyt will still be out there and youll be able to play it for free

Nintendo is living off of nostalgia bruh. I just want them to get it together. Mario cart was 3 systems ago and its still their go to. Nintendos been shooting themselves in the foot for a good minute. Specs, online, you name it. They keep making systems for kids not realizing that kids want what older kids have so theyre walking past the wii/wii-u to go grab a xbox or ps3. Why you think its a shyt load of 10 year olds in first person shooter online lobbies? Cause no 10 year old boy wants to play mario party over call of duty unless he has no choice. Its mortal kombat for SNES/Genesis all over again. Not adapting to the growth of your consumers and just hoping you'll get a new batch of consumers is bad business. You build a system for 10 year olds then 6 years later you build another system for 10 year olds and let sony and microsoft get the 16 year old? :what: but the 10 year old is only playing his brothers Xbox/PS3

They built this massive consumer fanbase then just gift wrapped it to sony and microsoft in hopes of getting more. They had two birds in their hand but let them go to get one in the bush.

If nintendo made a system that adult system that didnt have a gimmick controller, had adult system specs,3rd party support, and mario, zelda, metroid, and a legit pokemon they'd be trending upwards and would probably be able to sneak back into the console wars instead of being in 4th place in a 3 system race.

the wii has sold over a 100 million units, its the number one console. all of their first party games sell in the millions. nintendo made huge profits, all that shyt youre spewing is false. the wii made more money then 360 or ps3.

people buy nintendo consoles to buy nintendo games, simple as that.

nintendo has made it blatantly clear they are not competing with ms or sony. sony and ms and most game studios are in an arms race and the high costs of game production is cannibalizing the industry.

tomb raider sold four million copies and is considered a failure.

Bought vs used. I bought a wii. Did I use it? Not really. played some metroid, mario, wii sports and zelda. then it collected dust in the shadow of my Gawdstation 3. I only dusted it off when company came over cause all i had was single player games on the triple. Im not saying the wii didnt sell cause it did. like I said I bought one. Just no one over 10 actually put them to use.

People buy nintendo systems to play nintendo games? Then what? After you're mario'd and zelda'd out. what do you do? wait for them to make another one two years later, force yourself to play some terrible 3rd party game, or let the wii collect dust? nintendo games are like 15-20 hours and can be blown through within a week.

nintendos capture and release of consumers is bad business. The game world and the finance world is laughing at them. Nintendo shouldnt have to compete with MS or Sony. They pretty much owned the market at one point all they had to do was maintain and stay competitive.

i'm not going to lie and say that the wiimote wasn't heavily marketed towards for casuals but the innovation to change the way game were played is still there. resident evil 4, twilight princess, and no more heroes were great games. if red steel had a little more polish it would have been an excellent game too.

The issue is that the touch screen controller wasn't a huge step up from motion controls...they needed to wait and possibly buy ocular rift and have came out after Sony and Xbox with graphics more on par and something revolutionary again

When we was kids Nintendo made games for us, now you mad cause they still make games for kids? I see people say "Nintendo is fisher price status" but realistically they always was, we was just kids at the time and we grown now. PS and Xbox was always aimed at an older market from the jump. Nintendo still does do things for all markets but you can't be mad they still make games for kids because that's what they have always done.

As far as terrible third party games, Nintendo can't force third parties to make great games, they are third part after all. As we can see a lot of the great third parties are just fine not having their games on the wii u. Instead of having new games debut on wii u they have consistently made year old ports. You can't really blame Nintendo for that

i dont know how old you are but when i was a kid the only people who played video games were kids. adults didnt understand video games. there was no adult market for games. They had no idea or understanding of home gaming system. They used to think it would mess up your TV.People that were adults then still don't get it now but they don't need to. Nintendos original fans are going into their 30's/40's now. they understand gaming unlike their parents and they still play. theres an adult market now and nintendo blatant disregard for it is disappointing cause they raised all these adults. nobody over 10 wants to swing a nun-chuck to play a video game. you want to sit in a chair and enjoy yourself. you want to play a mario, zelda, and metroid but you dont want to buy a system just for that.

Im not mad at nintendo for making kids games, im disappointed that they didnt decide to grow with their consumers. Like I said if nintendo made an adult system with kid games and the gimmicky controllers optional they would be in much better shape. Would i buy a wii-u to play zelda, metroid, and mario? yeah at a pawn shop for 80% off the retail price. why would anyone buy an inferior spec videogame system at full price for the same 4 games?

To add along with that, some nintendo games could have easily been geared towards adults, zelda for example has taken a very child like direction and they could easily take a more adult direction, make a dark souls like combat system, harder, more creative puzzles, and a darker, deeper story. And get some fukking voice acting for christ sake, if other developers can do it, nintendo can too

at least Nintendo tries to do something different. they now base their systems around a tech theme.

Microsoft and Sony are pretty much gonna give you updated versions of the same boxes you bought 6-7 years ago. better hardware specs but more than likely mostly the same games that play the same exact way. a bunch of marine and space marine first / third person shooters that release annually at the end of the year.

let's also not try to pretend that Kinect and Move and even smart glass weren't in-part jacked concepts from Nintendo.

Nintendo's issue is as a company they refuse to evolve. they do come up with new concepts for hardware but then fill it with mostly the same games they've been making for generation after generation.

Nintendo needs an Adult Swim to their Cartoon Network. why can't they have Retro make a mature title and invest in other development studios to make a production that rivals Naughty Dog's Last of Us or something?

why is most of what they do Mario, and Donkey Kong, and Zelda, and Mario Kart on repeat console generation after console generation? they still won't make an MMO Pokemon even.

they're like an old stubborn grandfather that's been doing things the same way for decades that won't change and when they do change they run that change into the ground. they need to move Iwata out and get someone in there that can think outside the conventional Nintendo box before that company runs itself into irrelevancy.

we haven't seen a third party exodus this strong since Sega and the Dreamcast. do they honestly think 5 or fewer worthwhile internally developed titles a year justify a $350 pricetag?

I read a pretty recent article where Iwata explained that Nintendo does some types of games really well but other types of games not so well which is why they need third parties who are good at those types of games. He also said that Nintendo development teams are already stretched thin which is why Nintendo primarily focuses their own efforts on getting those core franchises out that people want from Nintendo. This is also why Nintendo have been expanding their development team recently.

I think Iwata has actually been on point with a lot of what he has been saying recently and if Wii U had real third party support and not just ports of old games it would actuàlly be a very appealing console. But I can't blame third parties for not supporting it considering the user base is so small. Truthfully the problem with Nintendo is also the reason they sold so well, a lot if gamers are happy to pick up a Nintendo console as a secondary console so they can play those Nintendo exclusives. While this means Nintendo consoles and first party tiules sell we'll it also means third parties don't sell as well. And it's not that Nintendo gamers don't buy those third party miltiplatformer games, they just buy them for the other console they own.
