at least Nintendo tries to do something different. they now base their systems around a tech theme.
Microsoft and Sony are pretty much gonna give you updated versions of the same boxes you bought 6-7 years ago. better hardware specs but more than likely mostly the same games that play the same exact way. a bunch of marine and space marine first / third person shooters that release annually at the end of the year.
let's also not try to pretend that Kinect and Move and even smart glass weren't in-part jacked concepts from Nintendo.
Nintendo's issue is as a company they refuse to evolve. they do come up with new concepts for hardware but then fill it with mostly the same games they've been making for generation after generation.
Nintendo needs an Adult Swim to their Cartoon Network. why can't they have Retro make a mature title and invest in other development studios to make a production that rivals Naughty Dog's Last of Us or something?
why is most of what they do Mario, and Donkey Kong, and Zelda, and Mario Kart on repeat console generation after console generation? they still won't make an MMO Pokemon even.

they're like an old stubborn grandfather that's been doing things the same way for decades that won't change and when they do change they run that change into the ground. they need to move Iwata out and get someone in there that can think outside the conventional Nintendo box before that company runs itself into irrelevancy.
we haven't seen a third party exodus this strong since Sega and the Dreamcast. do they honestly think 5 or fewer worthwhile internally developed titles a year justify a $350 pricetag?
