Why is the combat on Morrowind so trash?

Just started playing this, im on the mine trynna kill the egg poachers... but why i can barely hit them?
The combat mechanic is woat, i changed to 3rd mode view but shyt is trash, how does this stuff even works?
Should've started as a mage

You have to raise whatever skill applies to the weapon you're using. I remember sniping a dude with a perfect bow shot the first time I played the game and the it didn't even hit him. I was just like the fukk is this nonsense

It was fun to do the soul gem cheats though, or whatever it was so you could jump like a mile in the air and run super fast

All those games have shytty combat, like the worst ever for any AAA title. Skyrim was the same trash.

Fallout, Morrowind, Skyrim....All three Bethesda titles, all with combat. But I'm sure people will tell me combat isn't the point of those games.

It'll slowly go up on the rare occasions that your hits actually connect. Just gotta keep struggling
