Calling the Xbox Series X the world's most powerful console is laughable. It has slightly better specs than the PS5 but it probably will not amount to anything. Digital Foundry literally has to nitpick to come up with differences between them on games.

If somebody has a car that goes at a max 110mph and the other person has one that goes 115mph the second person technically has a faster car but that extra speed doesn't amount to much.

I could be wrong but the extra processing power the XSX has over the PS5 doesn't seem like it's going to add anything meaningful to games. If anything the PS5's faster load times would probably add more for the end user that would be slightly noticeable.

It’s like having a v8, super charged muscle car, and a incompetent drivers behind a wheel versus a fast well rounded twin turbo sports car with a great driver behind the wheel. The v8 might outclass a TT in Raw Horsepower but it’s still not gonna win races if it’s not being driven right, doesn’t have grip on it’s tires, or racing in anything but a straight line for a quarter mile.

Neither system is being utilized fully, it's WAY too early to even have these discussions. To be 100% down the middle and fair, we haven't seen either's best at all.

Isn't that closer to 14%? We're talking about almost the difference in percentage of performance between a 3080 and a 3090. Is a 3090 really getting you anything meaningful in terms of performance over a 3080?I mean it's a faster card but the 3080 more than meets the standard of quality gaming. You squeeze out a few more FPS on a game.

I'm going by the dev reactions. Not bothering with TF math because Sony is doing some "new math" with that alleged 10.2. Even if it is 17%, that's not what I would call "slightly better".

This is a developer thats had day one access to the ps5 dev kit and have their second major release for it ready to go in a couple of months

Point is having that power without being able to maximize it is worthless. And it's well known in the PC world that you rarely hit the thetorical max. One of the biggest points Cerny talked about with ps5 development is trying to eliminate bottlenecks hence the whole new i/o ssd solution. Might be playing a bigger role in these comparisons than we think

That's very possible. All systems gets better utilized as time goes on. You know this. I highly doubt either one is badly engineered enough for the delta here to be negated either way. Also, the CU number is what it is, the RT performance will always be better on XSX. Some things just are.

Maybe, but if it can use the CU number efficiently, it's worthless.
