We all clowned him but right now his moves have paid off. #TheProcess netted the Sixers with a core of 4 young pieces (Embiid, Simmons, Saric, Fultz) and they still have Okafor as a trade asset. And yes the Sixers got fortunate with Embiid and Simmons both missing the first year of their careers which made the team a little worse than expected but that's part of the process.

The only way to get good in the NBA is to be intentionally bad or bring in a top free agent. The Celtics ironically also did this and ended up trading pieces for their current best player, attracting Horford to sign and they have pieces this year (Josh Jackson most likely) and the LAL/SAC pick next year.

Why aren't teams bringing in guys who know how to work the process brehs?

The NBA has him on the black ball for a while list because the vision and the way he accumulated assets in support of that vision is paramount and let's me know he had a method to his madness...I hope people don't think that he is only good for tanking give him more talent and a direction of winning and a real playoff team with a star and I bet you he can improve

Because teams don't want to openly display to their franchise they're tanking

It takes a certain amount of not giving a fukk to pull off what Philly and Samuel did, and even then, the NBA still forced them to remove him before letting him reap his rewards

I fear that nba owners might have blackballed hinkie from the league

his tanking tactics look like it may work out well but he was legitimately losing money for the owners. For the few years the fans would barely show up to the sixers arena, shyt looked like wnba games outchea in the crowd

plus the way they got rid of hinkie seems like an inside job

hire one of the most important figures in nba basketball the old man colangelo, then he gets rid of hinkie and hires his dumbass son. shyt was a clean hitman job.

nba owners can be ok with the lack of parity in the league but they HATE it when teams are tanking on purpose and fukking up their money

Cause he don't know how to do anything but treat a GM job likes he's playing NBA 2K.

What he did at Philly was not impressive. If you let a 12 year old kid whose played 2K run an organization they could do the same thing.
If he was allowed to get Kristaps, he'd probably have the best draft vision of any GM this century

He only tanked for like 3 years

Orlando hasn't made the playoffs in like 7 years, kings haven't in almost 15, pelicans have arguably the best big man in he world and can't be consistent, and his method gave them potential top three players at their position on rookie contracts

You guys have to be the biggest idiots in the world. There is nothing visionary about what he did. Anyone and everyone can do what he did. Losing on purpose isn't hard. Its winning that's the challenge.

That idiot just convinced his ownership of a ridiculous strategy that 12 year old kids use while playing NBA 2K. And he thought you could treat real life like a video game so you could accumulate a lot of draft picks.

Unfortunately real life ain't like a video game. Subjecting an organization to intentional losing for 3-4 years is unacceptable. Plus it destroys the competitive balance in the sport. Its honestly a joke that people think what he did was revolutionary. Anyone can do what he did. They're just smart enough to know not to do it.
