The same reason Hinkie isn't with the Sixers now... although he may get a statue in the city some day

inside their building he was known for not being a "people person" and rubbing mofos the wrong way..

The league office was putting pressure on the new owners here and when they pressed Hinkie for his resolution to the process
he didn't seem to have a solid answer for them which didn't help his cause.

They got the impression that this thing was going to go longer than the league wanted it to so they had to chop him.

He made great deals with the Kings and Lakers (think about who is/was running those teams) and told everyone blatantly that they were going to lose... well... it's not hard to lose anyone can do that.. he just had no shame about it

So in reality.. people may think Hinkie is a smart guy his problem is he's the FACE of the tank (which btw hasn't actually produced anything yet)

I believe he'll get more love once the Sixers are making real noise in the East.

He'll be loved forever in PHiLLY if/when that happens

Hindsight will probably make him look like a genius.

@Swagnificent we know tanking gets people fired and loses the NBA money as a whole, but how else do teams get on even footing with the teams that drafted Lebron, Curry & Klay, etc.? You have zero chance of acquiring a player like that via trade in his prime or FA especially if you aren't in a city where they want to live or have a stacked roster like Golden State did to attract KD.

The process is ugly financially but it worked so far. A lot of things had to come into place (Embiid and Simmons not playing, Kings being fools and panicking to move salary and sign Rondo, etc.) but you cannot look at the evidence and say that the Sixers are in any way worse off than before Hinkie started three years ago. If Simmons and Fultz are halfway competent and they keep the core together Hinkie will get a 30/30 and be a hero in that city.

With the Lakers trading away a major asset just to clear salary, the NBA needs Hinkie more than ever.

The amount of finessing Sam can do now that these GM's are that desperate :ohlawd:

:snoop: it's like talking to children

What about I don't give a fukk what happens to the Sixers do you not understand?

The issue here is about competitive balance and what is good for the sport. This isn't about whether Philly is better off. Of course they are better. They flagrantly exploited a loophole that should never have existed.

Like I said earlier, any kid who plays 2K could do what Hinkie did. Nothing he did was special or genius or requires any team to hire him. All he did in Philly was prove he could make a team bad and give it high draft picks.

This is the nonsense ya'll keep repeating. If Simmons and Fultz are only "halfway competent" then Philly still isn't competing for a title and they are right back in the middle of the pack...so then what was the point of all this? Spend 5-6 seasons to get right back to where you started?

The only way this can be deemed a success is if Philly is one of the top 4 or 5 teams in the league. Fultz and Simmons have to be great. And nobody can say that's the direction they are headed. Ya'll have no idea at this point. The Process is still a question mark after 4 years. Is that what qualifies as genius?

This is spot on. Just to add about him not being a people person, he also rarely talked to the media, putting more pressure on Brett Brown to field Front Office questions on top of what was going on the court. Additionally, he didn't have good relationships with other GM's and Agents. A lot of people hate Colangelo, but he's had to rebuild a lot of goodwill with people around the league and agents that were thrown away by Heinke during The Process

Lol people keep saying it paid off but sixers haven't made playoffs. When they do something with the assets then it's a success.

other teams being smart and drafting embiid and his whole process is shat on by everyone. he hasnt done shyt. 2 teams decided not to draft embiid is the only reason we are even discussing the sixers potential after years blatant shyt product, and its potential that is a toss up at best

If someone else drafted embiid that would mean the slicers would either have Wiggins or Parker who are both great prospects who've shown consistent flashes of greatness
