you can justify it cuz Coach K and Calipari and em could jump to the NBA and get that 6, 7 mill
nah these coaches would have to take a paycut to join the nba. NBA is a players league, they wouldnt be worth 8 milli to a team.

They aren't student athletes. That's how.
If you had a student coach, then it would be comparable to student athletes.
Interesting point. I think that would even out the playing field.Bu...bu...but what about the spirit of amateurism? If room and board is enough compensation for the players why isn't it enough for the coaches?
I'm pretty sure most players would be full-time football players if that was allowed. You bring up an interesting point. How is it that players have to be enrolled and be students but coaches can be straight professionals. Bu...bu...but what about the spirit of amateurism?

However, college coaches have been generally known to be experienced in the field of coaching so they can mentor and prepare the athletes for the pros. A college kid couldn't do that.

coach k got offered 8 per year like 10 years ago and he makes 6 at Duke now
I would say the better coaches prepare up-and-comer's to mature their game, not everyone is a LeBron or Kobe. A lot of pro athletes give proprs to their college coaches. They learn stuff along the way of life. The great majority of college coaches are not preparing anybody for the pros breh. Even at the top programs, the majority of the guys are not gonna see the pros. Beyond that, you got people who aren't experienced in their field teaching students and preparing them for a profession.

Not every coach is a good mentor/life coach, and not every coach is good at preparing their athletes for the pros. But a student in his late teens to early 20s could not do either.
why is there a salary cap in the nfl??

Thats why I love david robinson on what he did with his son.
His son committed to Notre Dame but decided that he will pay out of pocket for tuition and his son can "walk on"
Now his son can make money off his name and can transfer whenever he wants to without penalty
His son still can't make money off his name, and still has to sit out if he transfers to a another D1 school.
Him paying out of pocket and being a preferred walk on prevents BYU and Robert Marve/Miami type fukkery when it comes to scholarships and transfers.... it doesn't exclude him from NCAA by laws
