Why isn't there a salary cap for college coaches?

damn :mjcry:

fukk the ncaa mane :mjcry:

What he did, was more so a noble deed towards whomever else got the scholarship that would've went to his son...He can afford to pay, for another kid that scholarship might've been the only way he plays college ball.

Miami tried to ban Marve from Transferring to any school in the SEC, any school in the state of Florida, or in the ACC.....and ended up banning him from transferring to LSU, Tennessee and Florida, and every school in the state but UCF and South Florida

BYU has a history of using technicalities to bar players from transferring to other schools....

It's a long read but the levels they went to prevent players ( usually black) from transferring to other schools to play sports was :scust:

I would say the better coaches prepare up-and-comer's to mature their game, not everyone is a LeBron or Kobe. A lot of pro athletes give proprs to their college coaches. They learn stuff along the way of life.
Not every coach is a good mentor/life coach, and not every coach is good at preparing their athletes for the pros. But a student in his late teens to early 20s could not do either.
:cape::camby:
And that coach gets paid based of the results of that player. Not vise versa. Bumb ass coaches got talents on their team that dont need them. The best players would skip college if they could.

Its more than a fair trade off for the coaches. The players are getting the shyt end of the stick.

ok no one's stopping them from playing in china for a year for 1 M
that's their choice to play at Kentucky and shyt
We aint that far along its powers that be that make the public frown on that.

Dont act like if all these players happen to end up in china that things wouldnt change in the us.

Is it me or do players that go to china get drafted lower than they would have. Compared to foreign born players entering the draft?

This is the case for NCAA football athletes so why not NCAA coaches? What's the problem?

coaches work 70-80 hour weeks for schools that gross millions of dollars in game revenue / tv rights / merchandise / licensing

youre familiar with capitalism and the value of skilled labor, right?

ncaa athletes is an entirely different topic.

NFL and NBA players all work enough hours and help bring in millions of dollars in revenue, yet they have a salary cap. If they can have a salary cap, coaches can have a salary cap. If they aren't in a full capitalist system, there's no reckoning that coaches should be in that system either.

That is actually a part of my point. Most guys aren't going to make it to the pros let alone be stars. Therefore the majority of a coaches job is about things other than that.

I wasnt suggesting 18-22 yr old coaches. More like 22-28, like many of the people teaching them.
Well, coaches like John Calipari and Jim Boeheim are older, experienced and know what it takes to "mold" the players to play at a level higher than high school and Div III/junior college basketball.

Well players like Tom Brady and Calvin Johnson are older, experienced and know what it takes to play at a high level and don't even need to be molded, why not let them play in college and pay them salaries commensurate to what they are getting in the pros?

QBs don't run the show in college football. All the top college QBs rely on head coaches for The head coach and offensive coordinator develop the offensive plays and run the team practices. The QB selects from an existing group of plays to use at a given time.
There's no such thing as a football coach development program for kids and teens. It just doesn't exist.

Not sure how your post relates to mine. My point is that if college is all about the spirit of amateurism aka not getting paid then that should apply to everyone. If it's about having the best and compensating them accordingly regardless of age and enrollment status then that should apply to everyone.
