It's "fools gold" that Kobe took more shots from mid range than Lebron and still managed to shoot extremely more efficient..
No he didn't.
Lebron beats Kobe 54% to 48% on twos AND 34% to 33% on threes.
On what planet is that "extremely more efficient"??? That's LESS efficient.
The "fool's gold" is that Kobe took 45% of his shots from 10-23 feet, even though he's only shooting 42% from two there, which is a horrible idea if you want to win games.
Lebron's shooting under 40% from two in that range, but he's bright enough to take a third fewer shots from that range, so he hurts him far less.
THAT is why it's fool's gold.
Lebron is FAR better than Kobe from 0-10 feet.
Lebron is equal to Kobe from 16-30 feet.
Kobe has that 10-16 foot range, that "I had to drive halfway to the basket and into the defense yet I'm still only taking a 44% shot" range, that "Lebron only takes 10% of his shots from here because he knows it's a stupid idea to take any more" range, on lockdown.
Put all that effort into making a post just to prove that Kobe owns 6' of range while Lebron has him dominated on scoring volume and efficiency both.
LeBron played in a terrible conference his whole career.
The East has won 6/13 titles since Lebron entered the league, and Lebron's career record against the West is almost the same as his career record against the East.
Plus, this is a shooting efficiency thread, and the defenses have tended to be better in the East. Detroit, Miami, Boston, Chicago, Indiana - those were all East teams.
