That's besides and beyond the point. The owners use this type of thing to convince players they should be a "good boy" and cut them a break. When the GM or anyone in the front office takes a pay cut or when they pay the luxury tax to go above and beyond to pay a player, you let me know.

He did this on his own, no one pressured him to do this

Understood they didn't make him do it, but I'm sure his agent could've presented a case for him to be paid more than the vet minimum. If the owner wants to win that bad, make him dig deeper into those pockets. Not saying they should pay him Corey Joseph money, but I'm against cutting those guys breaks.

If he wanted to play for the Spurs he was going to be paid X amount, nothing more. He had the facts, he was being offered more elsewhere, he's a grown man and thought leaving 6 mill on the table was worth to be part of a dynasty

You nikkas talking about his agent should have done a better job :mjlol: the Spurs were title locked regardless, West just the cherry on the top

how many pf/s c's they gon have ?:upsetfavre:wheres he gon get playing time he not playing over duncan or ald

GOATcan not gonn be playing more then 20min a game if Pop has his way during the regular season, West gonna get plenty of burn

Why does it offend you so much that an athlete made a personal decision to take a $6m (after taxes) paycut to try and win a championship?

Are you aware of his financial situation? Are you aware of his assets? Do you know what stocks are in his portfolio? Do you know if he has an interest in existing businesses? Are you his portfolio manager?

You have people who have never earned $100k before criticize a multi-millionaire for foregoing a couple million dollars for an opportunity to achieve something based on merit - i.e. something that can't be bought. He wants to retire an NBA champion.

The money that he is foregoing is still going to end up in the hands of another player. So it's not about "letting a white man eat off of him".
6M is 6M no matter how you cut it. Everybody think they rich while they in the league. Then they go broke after. Floyd Mayweather won't even pay 200k sanctioning fee to keep his belts because he said "championship belts only collect dust" dude made over 200M his last fight and won't even pay a 200k fee.. Smartenupnas..

Spurs have no guards, no youth and no speed. Not to mention, we know what they do when they're expected to win (go out to the Grizzlies as a 1 seed :mjlol:)

You mean Mayweather the notorious gambler? Not a very good analogy is it?

Athletes go broke, not because they didn't maximize their contract value while they were playing, they go broke because of frivolous spending, poor investments and a lack of financial planning. Any athlete who is frugal with their money after they retire from their chosen profession is unlikely to go broke.

The only time an owner would wanna encourage you declining YOUR option is if you suck. Indiana isn't exactly doing cartwheels right now over West leaving even if he was gonna get money that wasn't matching his production anymore.

If West wanted money, he woulda gotten it from the Knicks. He made this choice. Doesn't mean everyone else has to or will.
