They probly should change it, if its offending ppl.

But like some others said, how is the blame of this being put on black fans? lol Like you should take a weekend to protest this because of what blacks had to go through...makes no sense. The blame and responsibility should be put on the team owner and the league.

And one more LOL @ the people acting like you can offend a white person with any kind of racial slur :dead:

cac? cracker? lol that has no significance or base for me to even be offended, but if it makes u feel better :manny:

im only saying this because i think its why the writer used blacks and the n-word instead of white ppl

The fukk does this have to do with Black people? We stay getting scapegoated and called out to drive home a point for other people's causes. We don't give a shyt and even if we did we have no control over whatever the owner of the team decides to do with the name, FOH.

Basically this is bullsiit. The writer is a white boy who doesn't want to associate himself with the history that white folks have had over the last x'amount of hundred of years. So he says he's Indian which is insulting to real indians. I've come across 1,000 white people in my life who claimed they was part indian. Indians don't even fukk with white people for OBVIOUS reasons mostly  But this is what sticks out as BS the most to me.

The N-word and the R-word are, as the 10 members of Congress said, absolutely equivalent.
Oh yeah, cuz Nigg-er is well known worldwide. Redskin is an unknown supposedly racial term that nobody ever heard of til 12indians said they had a problem with a 50yr old name. I heard a different version of how the name was created. Which leads me to this...
“The only way 'redskin' was ever used towards my people and myself was in a derogatory manner. It was never, ever, used in a show of respect or kindness. It was only used to let you know that you were dirty and no good, and to this day still is.
Everyone has a "version" of how it was created. But this story is false imo because of how it ended. And how it went really. They was kidnapped from there homes and forced to go to a Catholic School where they in the name of the Lord showed no respect for them because of there skin which resembled that of the devil. If they wouldn't obey, they was beaten and chants of "Redskin" was shouted in furious anger as they reigned there vengeance down upon thee :stopitslime: I wouldn't totally put the "government" above doing something like that, but its not something that was more than an isolated incident. Because I never heard the term before. If I seen an indian, Redskin doesn't register as a slur, or even something offensive. White skins wouldn't offend white ppl. Black skins doesn't affect me. And most importantly, myself and millions of others look at the name Redskin with PRIDE. The owner who changed the name to the Redskins isn't gonna name his team something that is "bad" so at the least it was a way to say "Look, there is nothing wrong with Redskin. Red is beautiful baby!"

Real Talk, if the Redskins was something else? I would care LESS about Indians overall. I'd have LESS of a connection to Indian culture. And a deragotory name for an Indian doesn't really exist. Calling one "sitting bull, running bull" or some name like that is about as racist as it gets in AMERICA

a group of natives took this case to the supreme court

so that's where the outrage is

also, the founder of the team (my team) was a racist a$$hole, so if for nothing else, the name should be changed because it was bestowed upon the team in bad faith

I absolutely hate when people try to pull black america into some shyt we have no control over, they tried to do this same shyt with gay rights and blame us because it didn't pass a couple years back.

Just stop it, it pisses me the fukk off when they try to use our struggle to parallel it with other races struggles or put us in the middle to make a point. Not one nikka has a say over what that CAC Snyder does with his team.

lol what?

today in spain many identify themselves ethnic/regional groups and not as "spanish". it was a pretty big deal when catalan players draped themselves in the spanish flag when winning the two Euro championships and the 2010 World Cup

excerpts from an interview with martin scorsece about a film he was involved in "Nuovomondo"

HANSEN: It's interesting, the scene on the "Golden Door," when Mancusso(ph) introduces himself to the others on the steamer, and he says I've never been in a place with so many foreigners; and he's told they're not foreigners - they're Italians.

only americans saw them as italians in this case. to them they were calibrese, sicilian, napolitano, and so forth. even then, it was divided by towns - the smallest details informed identity, the nation state was not one of them:

Mr. SCORCESE: I always tell the story that my mother was born in 232 Elizabeth Street, and my father 241; and in 241, what had happened was that all the people are really from the town of Polizzi Generosa, where my father's father came from. They kind of migrated to that one building, and my mother's family - they came from a town called Cimina in Sicily, and they migrated to 232. So intermarriage between the people from those two buildings was a major sit-down.

(Soundbite of laughter)

Mr. SCORCESE: That was a big deal. Let alone, my Uncle Moe(ph), who was Gandalfo(ph), who married my Aunt Dora(ph), who was Neapolitan. That was a major, major crisis in the family.
