Why was 2pac praised, but Nas criticized for using this exact same beat?

Yeah. And there was nothing wrong with being a real hip hop dude in 96. It was just a different time. Artistic integrity was still a thing. People wanted hip hop to have rules. Characteristics. Ideals.
Now all that shyts out the window and we got rappers that mumble sing over shytty trap beats.
You tell me who won.

My problem is that a lot of people outright dismissed the album despite it being amazing lyrically. Nas didn't fall off on any level from a lyrical standpoint, he murdered every track (even the wack Nas Is Coming lol).

The streets didn't hate on the album at least I guess. You aren't going to find many dudes who think IWW was trash. Purists can hate but yo...Street Dreams bumps. As do many tracks on the album.
:wow:

It's not the "exact" same beat it's the same sample, the beats are similar but different enough that you should be able to tell them apart if you listsned to the instrumental. they're as about as different as you can get using the same loop.

it used to happen a lot but seeing that these albums would have been made around the same time and released only a few months apart i don't think one was biting off the other. Pac's song was an album cut so there's not much reason to believe Nas would have heard it while recording IWW. mixing and mastering takes time and i don't think there would have been time for Nas to record that song and get it out on the album in 3 or 4 months

But

"So much trouble in the world nikka,
Can't nobody feel your pain"

>>>>>>>>> everything on street dreams.

That song got skipped
