I'm confused about the arrest rate argument...are we saying because the nhl has the lowest arrest rate that there should be virtually no coverage of nhl players that do get arrested?

Are we saying "well since football players get caught up in domesitc abuse scandals a lot and nhl players hardly ever get caught up in domestic abuse scandals then we are going to cover every football related domestic abuse scandal and we are not going to cover any nhl domestic abuse scandals"

Jarret Stoll get's popped for coke and mdma...i think i saw one little news blip about it on espn...funny since he is dating a big name sports personality like aryan andrews...i mean erin andrews...

FSU running back gets caught up in some domestic dispute case and it's on espn every time i leave it on the channel longer than 5 minutes...

So you can be a white hockey player making millions and get popped with hardcore drugs while dating a woman who is a household name as a sideline reporter...and the media won't touch that...

But if you a black kid playing college football for free and you get caught up in a domestic dispute...the media can't wait to get their hands on it...

Stoll randomly had those drug charges dropped to...pretty shocking that getting caught with coke and molly got bumped down to breach of peace and trespassing...

Hockey is not a mainstream sport in the US, why would it's off ice issues be reported?

Nascar would have been a better example

Except in the real world you can find a video tape of one of nascars biggest stars running over and killing a guy...

And what was Tony Stewarts grand punishment...?

Oh right nothing all he did was miss a race or two...

Hockey players in general are pretty straight laced and don't often commit crimes other than a few bar fights. Even if it were popular in the US, there wouldn't be much to report.:yeshrug:

I remember seeing a thread on here about Stewart but I'm sure there's way more shyt Nascar drivers do off the race track that doesn't get reported. Who's more likely to beat or rape a woman? A hockey player from a rich suburban area in Canada or Minnesota or some tobacco chewing, moonshine drinking, cousin fukking, hillbilly trash Nascar driver?

Your entire argument doesn't make any logical sense...you keep using the term "more likely" as if since one group of people is more likely to do something then ALL of the media coverage should be focused on that group of people and NONE of the media coverage should be focused on the least likely group...

More likely doesn't mean 100% and least likely doesn't mean 0%...

Or any demographically white dominating sport. I'm really sitting here like :ohhh::patrice::stopitslime: these cacs ain't nothing going on. Nothing. Fukk the media.
So keep feeding into their talking points? You can watch and enjoy sports without the media friend.

Because it's hockey and the American media doesn't really care about the NHL like that. No one knows who half the players are, more than half, really.

Ryan O Reily got a DUI last week. Slava Voynov beat the shyt ouf ot his wife earlier this season. Mike Richards was getting coked up when the season ended.

But no one really cares because they are white and the news stories are just not sexy enough. And again, most people don't know who they are. In the hockey world they are all discussed and questions about character and yada yada yada are brought up but it's not pushed in mainstream media because it's not that popular in the US.

the reason why hockey players dont get talked about is the same reason nobody talks about the 12th or 13th man on the bench(NBA) if he gets in to problems.

Everyone in the NFL gets talked about because its the fukkin NFL. the Number one draw in the US.

First, there is no field in hockey. It is ice. But, I get that you meant off-the-ice issues.

Second, I've been following ice hockey for a very long time. I don't know why there are more arrests in NFL and NBA than MLB and NHL. There have been multiple DUI arrests when it comes to NHL players. I don't know how many domestic assaults occur that don't get reported, or if they just don't happen as often.
