Actually here in LA, because the Kings are somewhat popular and recently won Stanley Cups, we hear about it. One guy was just in a domestic violence deal maybe a few months ago?

Hockey just isn't that popular as far as individual players go. Most people have no idea who a named player is. Everyone knows basketball players for the most part, even casually.

If you think the other sports aren't reported on as frequently as NBA/NFL/NCAA due to popularity :aicmon:

Sports aside, look at your local news. Crime is reported (racially) at a disproportionate rate

Not a coincidence

edit: Read @bdkane 's post and go head and /thread

You're right but that doesn't change the fact that the answer to this thread is that hockey isn't popular. If a black hockey player got arrested it wouldn't be news either

Let's keep it funky, Hockey is a niche sport and most of it's players don't have major off the field issues like that. I can't remember one making headlines since this hockey player killed a black bear or something like that last year, I think his name was Clayton Stoner.

Playing that many games and getting slammed into the glass they're probably too sore to cause any mischief. Plus they can fist fight in hockey, a lot of beefs are squashed on the ice.

Dude, I've been saying this all along, since the days of PacMan Jones and Tank Johnson.

They'll report on no-named nikkaz in the NFL that nobody would be able to identify more than they do star players in White sports.

Dude, Brett Myers punched his wife in the face in public on a crowded street. . . . crickets.

Bobby Cox beat the shyt out of his wife and is about to go into the Hall of Fame and . . . crickets.

They covered Barry Bonds' domestic violence case back in the '90s everyday, but didn't cover Cox or Dante Bichette.

Dustin Johnson (the star golfer & Wayne Gretzky's son in law) got caught on coke THREE TIMES & got provided the gun that killed a guy and this was all in the LAST FEW YEARS and what happens to him? He got a "secret" 6 month suspension for the multiple drug hits and people ignore the gun that killed a guy.

Can you imagine if a much LESS FAMOUS NFL or NBA player got popped on coke 3 times and was linked to a gun that killed somebody?

Don't you think you'd hear all the morals police out there?

I love how dudes are acting like Ben Roethlisberger was "crucified". Did you hear the details of his case over and over and over again like you did with Kobe Bryant and now with Ray McDonald and Greg Hardy? No. Did you hear about how his "accuser" was so intoxicated that she urinated all over herself and Ben over and over again like you did with Kobe and the back door shyt?

Big Ben's a Super Bowl winning QB, yet you know more about Ray Rice, Ray McDonald, Greg Hardy, Michael Vick and a ton of Black guys who Outside the Lines or Sportcenter will do whole soliloquies about.

Stephen A. Smith and Skip will debate what all this means and SAS will go in on the guy like he raped his mother.

They'll drag single mothers, Hip-Hop, Black culture, deadbeat dads, illiteracy, and a ton of other things into it.

And don't tell me that it's because nobody cares about NHL.

They never reported domestic violence shyt about baseball players unless Barry Bonds or somebody Black was involved either.

Same thing with NASCAR or golf.

It's not just hockey. With Whites it's a different playing ground. If something does get reported its in the news for a week and then forgotten. The crazy white boy that shot up the the theater. Don't hear much about it. The crazy white dude in AZ skinhead that went around shooting people. You don't hear about it much. But you sure can see a fourth String QB from FSU on the hour ever hour though. :rudy:

It's just like the age old question:

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody is there. Does it make a sound?

Just because they don't report it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. :comeon: And we all know stuff happens with them.

Hmm, a majority of the players are from Canada. The second is from the US though.

We had a thread about this, but Canada and most of the Scandanavian countries have far lower crime rates than we do.

not to say they don't commit crimes, but they do come from places where people don't commit as much crime as we do in the US.
