dog, when I was a kid I FINALLY made it thru the water level without losing a turtle. that alone should count for something. still couldn't beat that game tho despite coming out the water with all 4 turtles in tact.

I can beat the water stage without losing a turtle. That was my job in the group growing up. All of us were good at one part and terrible at other parts. The bomb part was the only part I could do. My brother could do the turtle van parts and my cousins could do the sewers and remember where to get pizza. Only way we got so far. It took a group effort smh.

They have the endings to most Nintendo games. I really can't believe I was giving DAYS of my life and man hours to hope to see some of these endings. A lot of them just a black screen "YOU DID IT! CONGRATULATIONS! THANKS FOR PLAYING!"

Cats forgetting one more reason- limited lives. shyt made you sit up straight when you saw that x1 or x0 next to your character's lifebar , cuz you wasn't tryna make that same fukkup again and beat the level. Nowadays for most games, if you die, you just say whatever at least I got to the checkpoint.

That triangle jump in the pyramid alone was just status, such a weird but interesting game

Arcade games were harder so they could take all your money.

Download Mame and play around with the service settings. You'd be surprised at what was set on default

Warping levels to the last board. I watched my cousin beat it. Last board is a sequence of pipes you have to know. I don't know how he knew or found out but he did and got to bowser. He had developed a rep for beating/going far in hard games which was kind of dope cause people would just let us hold games for nothing because they were so frustrated with them. My cousin is the only person on earth that I have ever met who beat the original ninja gaiden. Whole hood came over to witness it like He never beat TMNT though and he almost died trying(true story)

Because we were all huge fans of TMNT we were forcing ourselves to play the game as ridiculously hard as it was. Everyday we would get a little further than the last day but like i said my cousin had a rep for beating the unbeatable games and he became obsessed with it. He was deadass playing it 23-24 hours a day for days straight, no sleep, barely eating. We never really thought about that he was already playing when we woke up or he was still playing when we were going to sleep. He just ever stopped playing. His body pretty much shut down on him, he passed out and ended up in the hospital with a IV in his arm. It was crazy. Child protective services thought he was being abused or neglected by my aunt and we woke up and told them he just was playing video games all day they didn't believe it. After he got out of the hospital my aunt gave away their nintendo, which made us spend the whole summer outside until they came to my house to play my nintendo.

Furthest he ever got was passed the technodrome with half a square of life left.
