marcelo, from what i heard, is 195 a month but u can only take 3 classes a week. im trying to get the most out of it. shaolin is 190 for 3 classes too. my old school was 250 a month but we also did judo, muy thai, and wrestling along with the bjj. still that was way too much money for a school whose only black belt was a lazy, greedy, judgemental, obese midget with a napoleon complex who didnt teach more than 3 classes a week and had his blue belts teaching :camby:
I will never learn a martial art from a black belt that isnt in shape. Hes getting by on the lack of training of his students

Then you have a news report later on about the police looking to apprehend a woman who killed a man in a bar late last night after applying a Jui Jitsu move she learned from watching a youtube video.

he got greedy and fat as fukk. he was into the whole lloyd irving mma millionaires club bs and started overcharging us even tho his school is in the damn bronx. so many of his students that were there since day 1 left him cause of his sudden greedy capitalist turn.

what made me bounce was when the man put out a dvd of this move that he invented (which in all honesty is an effective guard pass) and i asked him how much did i have to pay. now even tho i was a student paying 250 a month and loyal as fukk, he said $120 for the damn dvd. dvd based on 1 move from a dude who's only claim to fame was slamming roger gracie in an adcc tournament like in 2006 or someshyt.

i was like nah this dude in it to get rich :camby:

Thats tough. When i first was exploring the idea of training i went to Eddie Bravos school. In order to start taking classes you had to take 3 private classes which were 75 dollars each. I took one and was like, ehhht after realizing more formal academies dont do that. First day i go there and hes bringin bongs to the front desk. Definately not a family environment so i found another place to train.

he's another douchebag. thats why next guy i train with will be a brazilian church going man. if i lived in san diego i would be in galvao's school with the quickness. not that im a churchgoing man myself but i trust those dudes more than i trust these non brazilians in NY trying to capitalize

BJJ and some striking is ideal. If you have a bjj academy that offers MMA classes its a good idea to take them because obviously relying only on takedowns and standing chokes to end a fight may not Always be an option so you definately want to learn how to punch and kick. Still, considering that most people clinch after they get peppered with a few punches and go to teh ground, that bjj most of the time will be your greatest asset.
