i brought it up cause i also trained in it for 2 years. im a student of the art and respect how dangerous it is and i also love the ignorance other people have towards it :jawalrus: dudes be frontin hard as hell talking shyt and i just smile knowing i can twist them into a pretzel and make them cry without throwing a punch or breaking a sweat.

When you say pretzel...you mean by grappling them by wrapping your legs or arms around them until submission. I always laugh when i see that in action. Does BJJ show you how to effectively grapple bullets from a .45?

It seems, at least to me, striking is good in most cases. I think BJJ is important just in case you meet someone else who knows BJJ.

you wouldnt laugh if u felt how quickly you can be made unconscious in one of those funny looking moves :mjpls:

NO fighting form is effective against a .45 breh :comeon:

BJJ is the most effective martial art and its been proven over and over. striking is good in most cases but BJJ is great in more cases. the only time i would call bjj ineffective is fighting multiple ppl. there its out the window but so is almost every martial art except krav maga. in a purely 1 on 1 confrontation in the street vs the average man, nothing will cause pain like a shoulder or elbow lock. u dont even have to hurt the nikka, just take him down and wrap up his arms and he isnt going anywhere. imagine being able to control somebody fully without even hurting them? its total control with minimal effort.

Here's what I conclude, in a street fight, someone who is experienced in striking or BJJ are pretty much at an advantage against the "average man."

Only time a striker is screwed is against someone who knows BJJ. What are the chances someone trained in BJJ will start a fight? Probably zero. So why learn BJJ when you probably won't ever need it, just off that alone striking wins.

Plus if you around a group of friends or at a party would you break out BJJ against a mutual associate? Especially when everyone will be :whoo:

to answer why bother learning bjj, its just a very interesting and complex sport. its human chess really. when i got into it i just wanted to lose weight and i ended up so intrigued and pulled in by the technicality of it that i became obsessed. i was a guy that couldnt watch ufc because i hated when they went to the ground and now that i know whats going on it can be the most exciting part of a fight if its someone like damian maia is fighting. practicality wise, the shyt is that alot of schools now teach SPORT jiu jitsu instead of traditional bjj. sport jiu jitsu is all about tournament version based on points so they dont train strikes. traditional bjj makes sure to teach you ALOT of striking and judo and makes sure u are just as dangerous on ur feet as on the floor. a striker can also be screwed against the average thug on the street because a well timed tackle can take him down and even out the fight. a traditional gracie jiu jitsu artist can beat the average guy either way and if he cant beat him on his feet, it is not difficult to drag him down. after all, they have gravity on their side.

Don't rely on BJJ to save you from someone who wants to kill you.

All anyone has to do is jab you in the throat. Also, if you can't get someone on the ground for whatever reason you're pretty much fukked.

I know and have seen 135 pound women DEAL with 165 pound men with no problems. Ive also seen heavy weights have alot of trouble putting away these same women. You could tell they were embarrassed to. Doing bjj helps women differentiate the difference between a tough guy and a righteous man. When you train BJJ you will train with certified killas. People that have mastered the art and are very dangerous with their hands and legs yet, they have no ego about it and are generally good guys. This helps women understand how many men that posture as being tough really are not.

Not only that but bjj gives women the stamina and skills necessary to properly defend themselves from sexual assaults. A bjj purple belt could easily escape or disable her attacker. BJJ should be apart of every after school program in America and a staple of self defense classes for women that are dedicated to defending themselves.
agree

but certified killaz?

As for the first part of your statement, did u know that many police departments in the country along with the US military have incorporated a huge amount of jiu jitsu into their hand to hand combat classes?

It's really not difficult for a fight to end up on the ground unless u are fighting someone who has trained in some kind of takedown defense. It's actually a piece of cake to take the average demon(lol) down to the ground and I know this because within 6 months of my training I could easily take anybody with less time at the gym than me to the ground. Even some guys who had more time than me. When I started mma sparring, I hated getting punched in the face and my main defense was to catch a punch and grab and hip throw and I hit that at least 80 percent of the time even on more experienced guys. When u have Gravity on ur side it's really easy. Plus, one can always pull guard (pull the guy down on top of u and sweep him from there.)
