@Jesus Shuttlesworth, please explain why 18 year olds in high school should pass up a chance to play at top tier schools when everyone knows full well it isnt in their best interest

Try not to use shaming language like "c00n" "ashamed of my people" "keyboard warrior" in your response

We can have a logical discussion
Nah, fam. He really can't

I'm really starting to get pissed off at these threads. I found them refreshing at first but I realized these threads are filled with keyboard militants who do NOTHING as it is to support any hbcu's. EVERY TIME someone posts the reality of the situation they get ignored or deflected and folks go back to dreamland scenarios that don't even make sense in their heads. Newsflash!!!!!!!! If YOU are really about that dream life then YOU need to be doing a whole helluva lot more that what the average black man does for hbcu's. The idea that KIDS are going to be the mature ones and sacrifice THEIR career while the rest of black folks do next to nothing is beyond fukking stupid. For anyone that is REAL about this and isn't just some dumbass talking shyt because Sterling (a known racist for YEARS) has them in their feelings recently then these are some of the posts I've made in previous threads:

And after re-posting all of that I'd be stunned if nikkas REALLY want to discuss what would need to be done in reality rather than in their minds because the process would be such an incredibly long process. Everyone in this thread would be dead and gone by the time a hbcu rose to even the MWC status. How many of you are about that life? How many of you are willing to do more than talk shyt on a keyboard about how some teenager should do more than you do?

Nikkas need to start dropping credentials in these threads. How much are y'all donating every year? How many games do you attend? How often do you call in to the local radio station to talk about hbcu sports (assuming you even know the names of 2 players)? How often do you purchase merchandise for your favorite hbcu? How many of you fakkits talk more about Texas and Bama rather than PV or Alabama St?

If this thread is somehow magically the one that gets people off of their asses then this would be one of the best coli threads of all time but I think we know how this one will continue...

You brought up a lot of good points. I don't know what will get my fellow HBCU alums out of talkin mode into DOING mode.

I'm barely 2 yrs outta school and I've donated time, talent, and bread to my school and HBCU efforts in general. I met with our AD earlier this month to discuss fundraising and different ways to drum up interest. Frankly, I'm tired of trying to get other people on board, fukk em, mufukas have this "white is always better" mentality which is fukked up. In the meantime, I'll band with the people who really believe in uplifting our schools and make a change.

dont schools lose money on bowl games too?

breh talking about schools making millions on them, hell some not making money on them shiits

that each year at least 10 and perhaps as many as 20 schools lose money after subtracting travel expenses and mandatory ticket purchases. Plus they only receive a share of the total bowl payout since the payout goes to the conference.

So white schools don't make millions of dollars of bowl games alone? Millions that would go to an HBCU if all FSU's black players went to FAMU?

FSU made more money in one night than FAMU makes in a year.

The ironic thing about this, and why this whole militant shyt is a joke, is that you, a person with (I assume) a job and disposable income and the means to do a whole lot more for HBCUs than any 5 star recruit, are yelling at 17-22 year olds looking to give themselves the best chance for a bright future to SACRIFICE for the good of the black community. A black community that has done precious little to give back to the same institutions you want to rise out of the darkness.

BTW, I don't give a shyt because I didn't attend a HBCU. And if my kids ever want to attend college I want them to get the BEST education they can possibly attain.

FAMU's old gym:

FAMU's new gym after 2 tourney trips, financed entirely off basketball revenue alone:

You guys don't understand that winning=money and black players= winning?

he would drop 40, play against bad comp, go into ncaa tourney and lose, then go onto the nba. what do programs do to get another 5 star player?

please tell me you're not serious.

if these kids barely doing well in school (not saying all athletes do bad in school) but you get these kids who come to school to play football, get seen, and go on to nfl. do these kids all make it big in nfl, no. but they suppose to become these moguls when they barely wanna get the education.
will this kid be good enough that in 1 year turn a program around inwhich it would lead to more 5 star players bucking the system and going to HBCUs...no

:childplease: I'm very serious...they sell these kids on becoming NFL/NBA stars and how many actually become that? In my model you will get a quality education (black education as well) and even if you don't make it big...a networking program would be set up to where they would have an increased chance to gain employment after graduation because BLACK Businesses will hire you & this type of relationship would in tern increase the prestige of the school.

Its really quite simple...how do you think these PWC's got their reputation?

First of all I never said anything about today's recruits. I'm talking about a century old system. Sorry for your shortsightedness. It's a real problem in our community. I'm talking grand scheme of things but maybe the entire subject is too vast for you to grasp.

I'm over here talking about integration scores of years ago and you're talking about kids who weren't even born. :smh:

they do not want you to say this man :damn: you messing the game up. be quiet...you giving the blue print away.

we are suppose to go to the PWC's because they have 'great facilities' - use you up, teach you nothing about life skills or who you are as a black man & send you back home poor and broke to the same hood you came from

CNN: Some college athletes play like adults, read like 5th-graders - CNN.com

but you talking about them getting this great education and going on being moguls when it points to really some do not want it and have come to school to just play ball and major keep the dream of being a professional player alive
some have been passed along their whole lives because of their athletic abilities and they get to college they suppose to be these serious scholars. no it doesnt work like that
thats why schools have people doing work for them, putting them in easy ass majors. breh be serious.

your model is just your model.....its not real

But why should blacks prioritize HBCUs over schools like Harvard? Our president and his wife turned out pretty fine and they went to PWCs. Morris Brown collapsed two years ago thanks to to corruption and incompetence; how do you convince Andrew Wiggins (and his parents) to choose a place like that over Kansas?
