A midnight attack in which four shirtless white men - three with white supremacist tattoos - cornered and beat a black man at a downtown bus stop was deemed a federal hate crime Monday by a jury that returned the first conviction of its kind in Houston.

A federal jury convicted the trio - Charles Cannon, 26, Michael McLaughlin, 41, and Brian Kerstetter, 32 - for attacking Yondell Johnson simply because of his race.

Prosecutors dismissed charges last month against a fourth defendant, Joseph Staggs, 49, who testified against the other three.

The convictions carry a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison.

The four men ran into each other on Houston streets and "bonded" over the white supremacist tattoos, prosecutors said. Removing their shirts, the four approached Johnson, a 29-year-old African-American, as he waited for a bus at Travis and McKinney late on Aug. 13. They asked him for the time before at least one of the men used a racial epithet.

A 12 year old and his brother had set up a lemonade stand outside of their apartment building in Fairfax County when a person wearing a costume:

approached the stand holding a red balloon, prompting the 12-year-old to say “do not throw that at me,” according to the warrant.
The person then threw the balloon at the boy, hitting him in the thigh, the search warrant said. The person then retreated back into the same building he left. The boy told investigators he smelled of urine after the attack.

A few minutes later, the boy said he heard a male voice coming from the second or third floor of the same building, yelling, “Go back to Africa you [expletives]! It was only piss.”

There's a ton of reasons not to visit either Alabama or Mississippi or well......or most of America outside of Cali or NY for that matter. I assure you racism isn't one.

Blacks are moving to southern states that are making moves like TX, Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia. Who doesn't want lower cost of living, jobs, and milder winters? Blacks in the Midwest can take a break from shoving all this snow lol

I'm white and could never imagine moving to the heart of Red America, where state politics are dominated by Tea Party types and 80% of white people vote Republican in national elections. If I were black? Hell no. Now, Virginia and North Carolina have become semi-contested because of the transplant movement. But the South, down to its DNA, just does things differently. It all boils down to personal preference, though.

Honestly, north is where blacks need to move. Cacs in every other part of the country are of a different breed. Racist cacs are everywhere. Don't get me wrong. But they are simply different up north.

believe me, you'll get a of glimpse of racism in Indiana if not more so in majority of the other Southern states. Not everybody can put up with the cold either lol. That's why my uncle and grandma moved south

Yea, this was the most miserable winter of all time. Snow in April had me looking at the South like...

All in the South East or South West. Other Southern states are similar. Without the South's influence on US politics, weed would be decriminalized nationally imo. Actually, without the South's influence on US politics, a lot of things would be different nationally.
