Jordan had the gambling scandal and the unfortunate death of his father. Media was saying his gambling was the cause of his father dying before the investigation solved the case.

Even on the basketball side, there were questions as to whether a top scorer could win a title. MJ was criticized for being “selfish.”

Reporters literally admitting to protecting Jordan

Imagine a player today asking the media not to run a story and them obliging

There were plenty of stories that could’ve came out about Iverson, and Stephen A (who was at Philadelphia Inquirer at the time) never spoke about it. Nowadays, you could make the argument that some media people have no integrity or relationship with the players so they have no problem speaking about those things.

One thing I find very evil and treacherous about basketball media is how they make these lofty/inaccurate comparisons with young players just so they can attack them when they struggle. They did it with Booker, Tatum, Ant and I guarantee they're gonna do it to SGA.

And this is why I say these nikkas are a cancer to the game. Everybody wondering why Tatum isn't being pushed as the face of the league and I say his image never recovered from the hate he got for struggling in the 22 Finals. He was the future of the league after the Nets series.

But when he played bad in the finals against GS, everybody shyt on him and it's continued ever since. Even when he was playing on one leg in Game 7 against Miami, you still had folks shytting on him. I ain't even a Boston fan and that pissed me off.

And now you got the same idiots in the media wondering who the next face of the league is when they've been shytting on every potential candidate for years because they aren't perfect, while ignoring the MANY flaws and struggles of the past players they prop up.

They need to get up outta here ASAP

I called that shyt the minute they started that Ant/Jordan comparisons

As soon I saw the media go on that run full of Jordan and Kobe comparisons I knew this was going to be the outcome. Jordan and Kobe have been so immortalized that Ant has to score 30+ every game or hit every game winning shot or else he’s a failure. Basketball media is horrible. And don’t let him lose a series, all that personality they love so much will be used against him.

I remember a playoff series recently where Malika, Bob Myers and Perk and SAS were on the court before a playoff game and Bron came up and dapped everyone up while they were on live

SAS was the last one to get greeted and he kept his head down and was quiet AF until LeBron came to him. He gave a meekish “hey” and that was it.

I always thought that was LeBron big bro’ing SAS and a subtle thing.

Great point. I don’t even fully agree with Bron but the fact they they spent so much time on this topic on First Take instead of all the great basketball that happened last night gives more credence to Bron’s point

Not only was the Denver vs Bucks game a great one, Steph drops 56 points literally on the same day from his legendary performance against OKC 9 years ago and it was basically a footnote in the whole discussion. That’s an easy storyline to prop up but instead they chose to spend majority of their time on this shyt
