Nope...Soccer isnt life in america...Brazil, Germany, France, England...all have atleast a 100 year start ahead of the US. Soccer in America is treated too differently. For instance drafting players from college:scusthov:, MLS the only LEAGUE in the world who does that, might work with the NBA or NFL, but not in soccer.meanwhile nikkaz in europe are training kids at the pro academies from age 8. The academy system has to be at the forefront of player recruitment and development before you start seeing american dominance. which will take maybe 3 decades.

and people who say...well NBA/NFL takes the best athletes? Soccer does not solely require crazy athleticism. Its alot more technical than that. albeit you do need to be athletic to play soccer...understanding the fundamentals of the game and having the technique....for instance receiving a 40 yard cross with your week foot without even thinking about your touch, but it lands dead on:ohlawd:....or the ball as an extension of you are all technical stuff that must be drilled in you before the age of 10:ohlawd:..something that altho is growing needs to have more funding put in it.

For the record MLS is moving away from this. Every MLS club has their own academy and the MLS draft is getting more shallow with talent every year because MLS club are claiming their own.

def, i see it happening all over.....and MLS teams are getting feeder teams in the USL aswell. All good progress. but they are still drafting from college...that needs to stop

Never, a player like Coutinho isn't going to the World Cup. We got Germans switching allegiances just so they might get capped.

The U.S will never have a talent pool that deep.

And it's not about the best Athletes.

USA hockey is super niche status, never had an Ovechkin, or Iginla, yet they're always a medal contender every Olympics.
It can happen.

Hockey is an exclusive sport to 20 countries around the world.

It's not to say the US can't be good/competitive. The Talent Pool is too thin too get desired results.

Beasley/Donovan are both about to play their 4th World Cup :scusthov:

I don't think the talent pool is too thin. It's massive. When I used to go out to the Olympic Development Program and compete with kids from all around the US I saw extremely talented players everywhere. I think the hard thing is. Some of the things they would select people for were just silly for picking a soccer player. Kind of similar to the NFL combine when ppl frown on you if you aren't very fast or are a certain height or build. That stuff can help but it's not what coaches should be looking for primarily in a player. I dont know where half the kids ended up but I don't see any from when I made it to the regional level representing Florida against the best players from all the Southeastern states like Georgia, Texas (had some very good players), the Carolinas, Mississippi, etc. The only person who got to the national level from my Florida team (who won that tournament) was this Jamaican cat Hasani Sinclair out of Miami:

and this Haitian cat out of Miami also who played professoionally in Italy for Cagliari but not because the US selected him, but because his Miami club was linked wtih Cagliari's academies and Italy scoped him out.

It seems to me the problem is how they select players and maybe there's too many players in this bigass country to evaluate and pass through the best ones with confidence. I mean even Uruguay has like 2 world cup titles and that country is small as hell :yeshrug:

Also, the US frowns upon creative/technical players.

They want blue collar players

and thats not smart....the best teams in the world are very technical...look at barcelona....if not for coaching ingenuity finally exposing that style of play, them nikkaz ran through la liga and europe for 3-4 years. Their was one year that barca was just unstoppable....i think they beat real 5-1 in el classico that year:why:.Blue collar english style Goon soccer is becoming extinct..thats why the english national team shyts the bed at world cups. once they face a technically superior team..they get the run around[DOUBLEPOST=1397669750][/DOUBLEPOST]
If Greece can win the European Cup, anything can happen.

Bad example
Greece scrubbed their way to a euro cup and parked the bus
