US soccer will only produce a bunch of FIFA 2 & 3-star players that may beat a team that had a bad day or a rebuilding team but they'll never be serious contenders for a World Cup, let alone win it. The USMNT has had some unfortunate results that didn't go their way in WC history, but the US hasn't proven they can consistently field a team that can win a cup without A LOT of luck...... just walk-in and beat the s**t outta of the Brazil's, Spain's and Germany's of the world. Until Europe fears American players and respect American talent, we'll always be looked at as a joke on the international stage.
I disagree. We can beat anyone in the world and we have

Ronaldo and Messi made 50 million last year. Only Floyd Mayweather made more.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who plays in France (not even a top tier league), made 40 million.

Yep, and that is what their club pays them...doesn't even count endorsements. If there was no cap in the NBA. Bron would command 50 mil on the open market.

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
:heh: horrible answer

:wtf:

It's common fukking sense, if all the kids that play football & basketball in the US were instead funneled towards soccer we'd be a lot better off than we are now. The kids that make it to the NBA/NFL are the most driven and typically the best athletes, is it really that hard to believe a percentage of them would have excelled at soccer? Even if it's a small percentage like 5-10% of these kids excelling at the game we'd be a lot better than we are now.

It's amazing to me people can watch the athletes in the NFL and the NBA, see all the creativity they display, all the drive they've shown to get to where they are, and not think some of them would be good at soccer had they played it from Day 1 and got the coaching needed.

US Soccer is sitting on a gold mine.

America has some of the best athletes in the world but most of them are geared towards football, basketball and baseball (outfielders). Not just talking about Black Americans, but all Americans.

What they need to do is start going into immigrant communities and start dumping money into youth clubs, training facilities, and schools. There has been a lot of progress on this front in the last two decades but I would argue that it needs to be exponentially greater.

Look at US women's soccer where the female base has been established and funded. Most athletic girls who are into team sports are guided toward's soccer and the results pay off. They are always in contention.

It's pretty amazing that the US Men's team is ranked as high as it is due to the absolute overall lack of athletic base and support for this sport.

It's a different type of athlete that excels in soccer than in the NFL and NBA. And even so, there are plenty of elite athletes in soccer (Aaron Lennon, Shawn Wright-Phillips) who are trash footballers.

It's easy to say we need better technical players, but it's not that simple either. The game of soccer evolves rather quickly. A footballing nation's strengths can become obsolete in the span of just a World Cup cycle or two.

the onus of an elite football program is coaching, not playing. playing is the easy part.

we don't have great football minds in this country.

athletes got americans TO the world cup, but training and only training will take americans further. people forget that 1990 was the first world cup the US team played in after 1950. it wasn't because people weren't playing the game, it was because it wasn't (and still isn't, but it's improved) being taught properly

Nope...Soccer isnt life in america...Brazil, Germany, France, England...all have atleast a 100 year start ahead of the US. Soccer in America is treated too differently.
there are a lot of reasons, but i hate this nonsense.

The sport is not life in France, Germany, or England. Shoot, its not even life in Brazil. Im not sure its even the most popular sport in France.

What those countries have is great organization, which the US lacks as well as great youth coaching.

The US follows the template of basketball, baseball, and football and it doesnt work for a sport like soccer where you need proper instruction from an early age.

Where many murders occur
The stupidity of people who think that having the best athletes play the sport, or having it be the country's #1 sport is a guarantee of success. Morons, nothing is a guarantee. Just like when the Yankees spend 250 million dollars on their team, yet still miss the playoffs.

Black America should have sovereignty and its own Olympic and World Cup team, that way the cacs could finally stop coattailing black accomplishments.

We go over this on an annual basis. The top developers of soccer talent in the world aren't where they are based on pure athleticism. The American program seems to have realized this anyway with what they've tried to do with Klinsmann.
Would Messi have made it as a soccer star if he grew up in the US? We're so infatuated with "athletes" and dudes build is far from the American standard of an athlete
