Yeah the wild Wild West plot sounds so much better:unimpressed:
The Wild West West money is what got him. Remember nobody really got paid off Matrix 1. It was so new and revolutionary in 1999 that it didn’t really do mega numbers until it’s initial dvd run and then the hype train for part 2. He felt bad about missing the boat so he had his wife join in on the franchise which was a good move because she did well as Naiobi

If Wild Wild West would have been ANYTHING of value then maybe.

He heard the fukcing pitch for Wild Wild West... he couldn't.tell from the pitch that that movie would be PURE SHlT?

He hears two pitches. One goes on to be arguably the best movie ever, and the other goes into the $0.99 bin at Dollar Tree.

He picks the garbage movie

Sounds like his talent for judging pitches is WAAAAYYY off

I’m glad he turned it down. Can’t imagine anyone else but Keanu playing @neotheflyingone

Yep. Huge fan of Will Smith but he probably would have had some one liners about "how they always do this to brothas" and that would have took me out the movie :mjlol:

"So how many brothas was The One before me?"

"I'm surprised aint none of these white boys The One and they actually chose a brotha."

:mjlol:

Yeah that's what it all comes down to. If I'm sitting and hearing two wild bullshyt pitches I'm just going with the role that is going fatten my pockets.

Wild Wild West was based off an existing IP. It was also directed by the same guy who directed Men In Black, which catapulted Will into superstardom. Compared to the untested Wachowski siblings and the unproven nature of their idea, one can see how it made more sense for Will to do WWW than the Matrix.

hindsight is 20/20. NOBODY knew The Matrix would become the phenomena it became and even though Wild West was underwhelming. It did something that many movies of the time refused to do. Cast a black man as the romantic lead over his white counterpart. And it also grossed over 100 million at the box office at a time when only a few actors had name recognition to do that.
