Will there ever be an entertainer on Michael Jackson's level?

The Beatles are and were definitely bigger they're the best selling act ever for a reason.

No,

MJ is the most famous human being to have ever lived.

Not the richest or smartest or the most record sales but the most recognized and most universally loved human being to ever live.

And it's not even due to the love he gets in 1st world countries. It's the fact that MJ can go to the shyttiest, poorest slums the world has to offer and they will still show him love.

Paul McCartney/Elvis could never do that in a non white country.

He capitalized on new media and changed the way things were done but.... he was already insanely popular.

Y’all love to mention Prince to diss MJ but I never hear him talked about when other artist like Beatles, Bob Dylan, Stevie, etc are mentioned. Prince talent was unparalleled but he wasn’t the best all around imo.
For instance, Stevies prime catalog is better
I never mention Prince as a diss to MJ. They're both legends & I said M.J. had more popularity. I just talk about the artist I feel is the G.O.A.T. My opinion, Prince.

& Not mentioned with Beatles & others is a lie.

Speaking on Prince, I think that was just a de facto kind of competitor they just threw in with MJ just because. B Brown on the other hand was much more equal footing due to the similarities and how you could tell he wanted that crown and really did have the talent/fanbase to be a problem.

Not to throw no shade on Prince, he was undoubtedly talented and obviously didn't march to the beat of the commercial drum but in terms of art, impact, catalog, legacy etc.. he isn't anywhere on MJs level. Neither was B from what we saw but he could've been.

If you were around back when Brown was on his come up you'll know what I'm saying as he had the game in a choke hold and wasn't even trying and all that was just him bubbling as we never saw his Thriller moment.
Bobby was a big American star, mainly in the black community for his music, while his bad boy persona gave him notoriety in the pop world, but he was no where near even possibly competing at mike's level. bobby b was never going to big enough to perform in a post communism romania nor sidetrack primetime TV to debut music videos ( i still remember "remember the time" debuting like on Fox). bobby had the potential to have a longer career, that's about it, but we know all the things that shortened it
Bobby was nowhere near close. Prince was larger than he. Bobby was a flash in the pan and was never going to have prolonged success. Whitney was far closer to bring MJ dominant than Prince or Bobby.
whitney was big, but the coli always forgets madonna, she's likely the next biggest solo star there is/was after mike (edit: i also gotta mention elton john...people love that dude lol)

She can't even outsell Rihanna.
that part...people love to over look her when she's the only other woman aside from madonna sitting at 250M+ records sold

No.

Part of MJ's (and all other celebs before the internet era) mystique was the distance between he and his fans. You only really saw him if there was a new music video, Pepsi commercial, awards show or if he is on tour etc. Nowadays ppl have access to these stars 24/7/365.

It's not the same.

It’s more than just performing. Whitney and Madonna were far larger than Chris in their prime and they still arent MJ level.
as i said it was a different era

they built the mythos of artist differently back then

deification doesn't happen now

madonna & whitney breaking out in the era that bhris did don't hit the same peaks either

the talent would get muddied up folks would be more occupied with madonna being a hoe & all of whitneys drug.fiend drama

there is way less awe when you know the truth about artist as regular ain't shyte human beings

MJ had the most record sales. Elvis' record sales are ridiculously over estimated at being over 1 billion albums sold, and in reality the number is more like 320 million. The Beatles are placed over MJ as selling the most, but they are really at around 330-335. MJ is under estimated in sales at around 340-345 million. MJ in the 80s eclipsed any and everything that came before or after.

i agree, but that's artists faults. one thing i like about Bey and Jay is they kept that old model of being elusive. it's a clown show watching the rest of these celebs play out they lives on social media - DM fails, rants, beefing with each other, drug use, public breakups, dikk/p*ssy pics and sex tapes, text convos put on blast, controversial views, etc...people have way more reason to not personally like artists than in the past and that also limits reach

Was thinking about this the other day, he had a complete arcade video game, after the whole Moonwalker sub-brand that he created. While I will say that timing had a lot to do with the success, there will never be anyone bigger.

It amazes me that there is a whole new generation of adults that has no idea how big Michael Jackson was

they have nothing to compare it to, how huge this man was and how his music spanned over 4 decades, and the impact he had on popular culture

this man had white folks passing out at his concerts, hard core killers bursting out in tears when they saw him

:wow::wow::wow::wow:

I have never met anyone in my life who does not know who Michael Jackson is.
I was leaving a festival a few years ago where Janet performed, and she had done the song she made with Michael, Scream. Breh, there was some Chick there oblivious to who MJ was. She knew him mostly for that Drake song where he sampled him, and that was it. I was both shocked and appalled, but mostly shocked :wow:

About how old was that girl?

A few months ago I asked my wife's God daughter if she knows who MJ is and she did. She's only 4. I asked if she knew Beyonce' and she said she didn't.
