FYI, 4 out of the 8 superstars listed became superstars within the last decade.

I feel Kendrick Lamar praise is more hype based than actual superstar potential. Ive been a fan of this kid for years. And even I can tell you that Section 80 is better than GKMC. However that Interscope machine got the general public gassed.

I mean, I don't really listen to his music like that but the shyt I have heard (Tony Montana, Same damn time, Turn out the lights, Magic) has either been completely ass or had him outshined by everyone else featured on the track. Does he have some mixtapes I haven't heard or something? I've always thought he was a joke rapper and made himself sound purposely bad with that autotune shyt? I really don't see how he could ever be a superstar - maybe he'll reach Waka's level at best.

Since then the closest has been Drake & Nicki who have flirted with superstardom.

OP got it right... dudes like ASAP and Future are popular... but they're not stars. In 5-10 years they will be in that "hey yall remember so and so" camp, while Jay will be claiming 50 is the new 23

For Nikki, "Starships" and "Turn me on" are her recognizable smash hits... Both those tracks got regular spins on pop stations and probably got really high on the Top 40 charts..

As for Drake... "Find your Love" is his smash hit.
