The Los Angeles Clippers and Washington Wizards had an agreement in principle on the eve of the deadline involving a trade of Caron Butler for Trevor Ariza, according to sources.

Donald Sterling rejected the trade a few hours before the deadline in fear of ruining the team's chemistry.

Butler continues to have a home in the Washington D.C. area, while Ariza would have given the Clippers a wing defender with length.

If a pick was involved, I can see why the Wizards would pull the trade. But straight up? Caron is 5 years older and isn't as good of a defender as Ariza is at this point.

The front office in DC clearly still loves Butler. But he'd probably have been pissed coming back here and coming off the bench with Webster playing well at the SF spot.

Grunfeld needs to be saved from him self. Ariza is only 27 years old and will net more in a trade than an older player. :smh:

Hmmm....I wonder if that's part of the reason why the Webster-to-Boston deal fell through....

Ariza could've helped defend the perimeter and rebound..we've been torched from the 3 point line all season long. He's younger and more athletic plus Caron is hurt every other game. I haven't looked at the contracts but I would've approved this trade in a heartbeat:noah:

Contracts expire the same time (Summer 2014) and Ariza makes slightly less than Caron.

we need shooting...we have NO shooters....ariza is probably the worst shooter in the league....he was on that team that cp3 basically bolted from because they were so buttcheeks....if this trade happened I would personally email cp3 to get the fukk out of there

Your right homie Ariza would be a great role player coming off the bench who is a solid perimeter defender.. this trade would benefit the clips on a defensive standpoint

If this and the KG trade went down the Clippers would be the favorites to win it all. :whew:

stfu! Do you actually watch the Clipp games or do you skim through them? Between Paul, Billups, Crawford, Blake, Lamar, etc we got plenty of enough shooters. Giving up 12-15 three pointers to the likes of the Warriors, Spurs, OKC, Heat, etc. makes me want to pull my fukkin' hair out. We can't defend for shyt. That Spurs debacle was the last straw for me. Caron is not defending for shyt and he's hurt alot. We need defense and rebounds, That's the reason we wanted KG. And fukk what CP3 does. I like him and want him to stay but fukk all that "he needs to leave if things aren't to his liking" talk. He should show up for the Spurs, Miami, OKC, and Golden State games first of all.
