But my thing is, who exactly is ignoring the Bronnies??

See, I attended prep school. The cute Black guys were into the most popular girls- the hot White girls all popular White guys were into.
Black girls weren’t getting love unless you literally looked like a model. The Black girls who normally attract men of all races- yes, they were getting pull because the White guys were checking them too.

And that happened as I grew into my looks and got to college. All of a sudden the White dudes were checking for me at my all white college and the brothas who noticed that made sure to step in and repeatedly ask if I was into White guys, etc. In fact brehs still ask me that now LOL

But the Bronnies were checking for the Beckies.

You actually think Black girls who attend Bronnie’s school aren’t checking for him?

-LEBRON’S SON

You ACTUALLY THINK Black girls at his school are avoiding him? Or do you think he’s picking who he wants? Use common sense.

This is like the Obama girls.
Malia literally could have her pick of ANY young Black man who comes from a wealthy, upstanding Black family in this country. But who is she with? A rich white guy from Britain. BECAUSE SHE DOESNT WANT TO DATE BROTHAS.

Sasha, on the other hand, has in fact been seen dating a handsome young Black man from a wealthy Black family. You know why? BECAUSE SHE WANTS A BREH.

No one is ignoring the Bronnies.

I gotta disagree. Brehs who aren't tall like I am are getting ignored. I played sports and I also played instruments and I still do.

My private school I floated between everyone and I grew from that. Hell I see with my younger cuz he has a friend who is shorter and loves anime. They been raised in white culture and they hit the city 45 mins away for a haircut at the barbershop and that's it. My cuz parents met and dated at Fisk in Nashville round the corner from where Oprah went to Tennessee state.

It may not have been your personal view but I've seen it . You have young Bronnies who are well-off, not famous or tall. They are getting passed over. I'm so passionate cause I see it with the kids I mentor. I let the younger brehs and sista know that they matter.

Do you think black women should be more forward when they’re interested in black men in these environments (i.e. asking black men out)

I’ve had a similar discussion with black women when I was in law school. Anecdotally, black women were less forward with romantic intentions compared to non-black counterparts. Maybe you’ve seen it too? It’s harder to compete when there’s a hangup about asking men out, unlike other groups of women (based on observation)

Firstly- you are doing something amazing. Truly. Bless you for giving back.

Secondly- this kind of illustrates my point. I said myself that I was overlooked until I hit the college scene and then everyone wanted to make sure I didn’t “date out” lol

The kids you’re describing come from money and good backgrounds, but they aren’t necessarily the Bronnies.

Bronnie is the rich, popular, handsome kid who happens to be Black- he has his pick of all the girls ( who doesn’t want to date LeBron’s son?!).

Imagine Blue Ivy when she hits high school and starts dating. She’ll be the rich, popular, pretty girl who happens to be Black- she will have her pick of all the boys (who won’t want to date JayZ/Bey’s daughter?!).
If she steps out with a white boy it will be because that’s what she wants!

The kids you’re describing who get overlooked are not the Bronnies, Sashas, Malias, or Blue Ivys.

They are the average Black kids who would’ve learned how to get in where they fit in, if they were allowed to grow and flourish in Black environments.

The Bronnies and the Sashas get to PICK whatever partner/race they want because they have the looks + social capital that is necessary in shallow environments like high school.

The Bronnies don’t get ignored. They can pick the popular White girls OR Black girls because they have the social capital to do so. Whether it’s height, looks, popularity, etc they have the cache to make that move within dominant society.

The kids you’re describing aren’t Bronnies. That’s the key difference.

she said she didn't make a connection based off of his career path, it takes more than a career to make a connection. so since he never got into other more interesting stuff she could connect on, she he skipped him and it's a speed dating show so she wasn't about to sit through his soliliquy like the other think she should have just because he is a "nuclear physicist".

i agree with her, especially since it's a speed dating show, that's a pertinent point.

my brother goes to MIT graduate program (RANKED #1 UNIVERSITY IN THE WORLD) so he is like actually even higher up than people think air force dude is. he's not out here getting fine females of any race like that. he's a nerd lol

he's already won.
you really read that he's in the graduate program in the #1 RANKED UNIVERSITY IN THE WORLD and placed emphasis on the part that the girl isn't a 10 to conclude he isn't winning yet :snoop:

see this is the problem. not knowing ones lane, expecting certain things because of titles, etc.
i appreciate the well wishes though

No.
For clarity not argument, my assessment was based on the fact that he is in graduate school. Give him time to finish, chart his course and stake his claim - about 5 years.
Nothing to do with women, it'll all be there .

i guess. my understanding is he can be one day out from graduation and he should be set with a better job than the majority of everybody. sounds like a made man to me. this is not a five year plan type of situation lol. this is the best of the best.

Yes, his future is probably brighter than most. Some Indian or Chinese woman will appreciate his banter.

I read your cliffs as well as some of your responses to other posters.

I side with your perspective for this reason:

At the end of the day, people vibe with people they vibe with. If this woman is 23 y.o., then that told me that she isn't in a space to think about settling down with someone based on their career. She is still learning about herself, what she want out of life and who she want to connect with.

People make choices in life. Not every woman wants a man with a prestigious job/career. It may not make sense to some people, but it may make sense to her.

If she was participating in speed dating, then of course she is going to go off of initial spark. shyt, most people in general make their decisions about a person they are on a date with based off of initial spark. Whether it is a wise decision or not will depend on what outcomes come about their decision.

Nevertheless, that Nuclear Physicist dude will be alright. Best believe some woman will choose him, so hopefully, he will stay focused on his purpose and good things will happen to him..

As for the young lady, she will be alright. She will go through life lessons like everyone else.

They feel they dont have to compete, its actually beneath them. Most would rather knock the guy down a peg than make their intentions known. Others are in it to win it. Thats where the whole "oh they easy" or "they friendly" type shaming comments come from. The thought process you are looking for doesnt even register and would get screw face if you asked a group this in person..

What a balanced POV. This is like the best response in this thread!
