The Land That Time Forgot
and that goes back to what I've been saying for years. I even posted up here. You can't make great music if you don't know great music. If your introduction to music(and not just hip hop) was Lil Wayne, Lil Jon, or Jay Z during his Swizz/Neptunes phase, how the hell u gonna make great music if you've never known it?

You cannot create great music if you have not been exposed to a wide range of great music.

Big was old enough to experience NYC Hip Hop in its purest form: The deejay spinning a VARIETY of music and beats to keep a party going.

The emcee was only meant to serve as a complement to the non-stop party groove. So, true emcees in originally-intended Hip Hop were slaves to the rhythm/music -- not the other way around.

A twelve-year-old Chris Wallace is hearing "Love Is The Message" by MFSB "I Want To Thank You" by Alicia Myers, "Set It Off" by Strafe, "Friends" by Whodini and "Dangerous Diseases" by Michigan and Smiley all spun at a typical Brooklyn summer block party in 1984.

It is regrettable today to listen to artists who are just so limited in how they express themselves musically, lyrically, etc.

biggie's deal was horrible to the point that he had to sell Puff half of his publishing for cash due to being broke. Even at the time of his death he had financial issues. It's been said by Faith and more recently Gene Deal. Puff keeps all of his artists broke. that's a known fact
:snoop::snoop::snoop::snoop::snoop:

1st off i dunno what faith said in her book, i think i may need to read or order it on audible cause nikkaz been using a lot from it lately & as far as big gene goes - he has an issue with puff, no disrespect but it’s hard to take a bodyguards word on what another nikka contract was looking like ; if he was the company accountant or business lawyer then his words would be more credible

now as far as the important / factual shyt goes ......
biggie sold his half of his publishing to puff with an option to buy it back
THIS WAS WAY BEFORE HIS DEBUT ALBUM DROP ‘READY 2 DIE’
this was sometime around in the late summer , early fall of 1994

and the 2 reasons he did this
1. he just had a daughter
2. his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer

so he made a decision to sell half of his pub which was roughly 250K cash, just in case his album flopped
he would be able to provide for his new born & take care of his moms as she started treatment

i understand y’all nikkaz hate puffy
i don’t understand why y’all use biggie as y’all talking point when it’s either a lie or half truths

Seeing how Pac and Jay, his main guys are icons, there's a fat chance.
But one can't say what he would be doing. Perhaps he would move to the Caribbean and just chill, dude loved chilling. It's impossible to say anything really. Maybe he would've signed Kanye West and Eminem who the fukk knows.

Plus Jay proved that when he said that line AFTER BIG DIED

And if I ain't better than Big, I'm the closest one.
Saying that either he or Big is the best ever is a diss now, dudes are too soft when they hear another dudes name on a track :mjlol:
You basically have to kiss their ass for people not to scream DISS!

1. the faith touring for free shyt was a clever move on puff part - he only did that shyt cause biggie & faith was going thru problems and that move was to show biggie who puff was gonna side with when the shyt eventually was gonna hit the fan

did you forget that his first big check from Bad Boy was only $25k(not like the $60k the movie showed). So yes, like I said, keep your artists broke so they depend on you. So in turn they have no choice but to sell half of their publishing. He would have never bought that shyt back because it would have been worth far more than $250k. Just like publishing deals. When you get a million advance on publishing, , You're not out of the deal when your publisher gets his million back. He's gonna get his money back, but you've got to make them a million back at a certain rate and it's not 1 for 1

puff tried his damnedest to get them back together

faithandbig.jpg

even at the imfamous 1995 source awards - they wouldn't even sit next to each other, faith wasn't having none of that shyt, thereafter she bounced to cali to make her bread out there writting & singing back up
puff wasn't gonna side with her. he was ONLY gonna side with his No.1 superstar

with all that said.... i find it interesting you being Mr Economics in all, chose only to address the fukk shyt above & none of the technical $$$ shyt i posted

Believe so. He'd be like Jay most likely on a certain level. Into alotta other shyt but wealthy and still dropping good music.

Didn't appreciate him while he was alive, but dude was nasty. Can't deny that. First rapper I remember hearing didn't write lyrics down, then had everybody else lying trying to say they didn't either.

Big is one of the most gifted artists ever. He changed the game everytime he dropped.

There is no reason to think Big wouldn't be just as celebrated as Nas and Jay are today.
