If there were professors from major universities recruiting kids to come study hard and the parents got woken up in the middle of the night to this:

and these coaches will cut those guys in a SECOND and leave two months later if it happens with an uncomfortable frequency
coach comes into the program year one: "ah, this isn't so bad, old coach left some talent, ok."

year three after major bowl appearance/win: "GENTLEMEN, we are winners!"

[coach goes on huge vacation, gone for months at a time promoting the school brand]

Go to any good football school and I bet you see enough shyt to warrant the death penalty. Outside of maybe usc which is in l.a. How do you think these schools got to where they are? You gotta recruit and all of these schools compete with each other, and if a player says they got paid, it's only because they outbid another school. I look at the cam newton case, people fail to realize that the whole thing started because miss. state tried to get money for him, not auburn. That's why auburn never got in trouble. A Miss st booster tried to get cam money and couldn't do it. So basically it happens everywhere.

what's lost in all of it is that the young men are the only ones who ever get in trouble for it. if they snitch on the coaches who were in on it, they get hate from the school/fanbase. if they take the punishment they're idiots who will never get drafted. they get stuck to get grilled when the coach leaves. if they don't like the culture once it's all revealed they can't leave without sitting out a year.

The NCAA knows who to go after. USC was an anomaly. They HAD to fry PSU, but for the most part they go after the mid-tier schools just to say "SEE??!! WE DO OUR JOBS!!!" That's what they do.
If yahoo sports didn't exist there'd be most schools getting away with more shyt. I bet they in the bushes looking up another violation story. All of the other media outlets are too invested in the powerhouse schools to investigate.
