Wherever nikkas need to be told on
Did u even read wut I said u fukkin idiot?

This thread is in regards to the age factor

Of course creating illmatic is fukkin impressive

But the fact that Nas made it in his early adulthood doesnt make it more impressive. Thats rather standard to put out ur best work while young

A nikka becomin a CEO at 19 would be a million times more impressive, in terms of the relation to his accomplishment and age

Yeah, I read that shyt :mjpls:

Creativity and talent is not sumthin that progresses wit age

Then how come Nas didn't drop illmatic when he was 9?

I won't hide the ball from you, it's because the "age factor" is real. I get you're on your Aaliyah shyt and you think age ain't nothin but a number. But you're wrong; that shyt matters. Sure, Nas could have put illmatic out when he was 25 or 35 and it would've still been dope--it still would've been a blessing. But, the fact that the bulk of it was created when he was a teenager makes it that more special--in my opinion, of course. He was putting words together, thinking about certain shyt, and flowing in a way that revolutionized the game. I'd argue that his insight into what was going on and creativity in expressing that into an art form was noteworthy particularly for his age. It added an aura, mystery, and legend about him as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong because I wouldn't dare want to continue being a "fukking idiot" but you're suggesting that like any profession there's a certain age range where you think someone would be in their "peak" and should do their best work. For athletes, that period probably runs from their early twenties to early thirties. Wouldn't you agree? Therefore, when nikkas in their late teens get it in (think: Kobe or Lebron coming out of high school) or old heads too (think: Favre when he almost got that Super Bowl), it's exceptional because nobody is expecting it due to their age. For rappers, it seems you are saying that peak starts in their late teens hence your comment that Nas doing arguably his best work at 19 is not noteworthy. Riddle me this then, what other 19-year old or 20-year old has created something that rivals illmatic?:jbhmm:

nothing impressive about that tho, it's just a hood dude rappin (badly and off beat at times) about doing gangsta shyt. nothing especially poetic about it, flow was weak, the beat wasn't even that good. compared to artists that people point to as making great music for their age such as Nas, Ice Cube, Rakim etc this song is nothing.

Those guys are studio gangstas and ice cube was college educated

Violent j dropped out like 9th grade

I see your point OP but I think its wrong to say its dumb to claim its impressive.

To master a craft at a young age is impressive. For Mozart to compose at the age of 5 is fukking crazy.

Im 28 and I draw and paint. When I compare the things I do at the age of 28 with the things I did when I was 20, I have improved a lot. So for some people to be painting master pieces while they where teenagers is impressive.

You say "And most artists make the best work when they're relatively young anyways not when they old".

While the statement itself is true. We must look on why that is.

That because most groundbreaking artists have something new to say when they are young. They want to revolt and change, do things in a new way. Thats one of the big reasons why they do their best work young.
But there are alot of people that are young and are doing things that haven't been done before. But the groundbreaking artists that do it at a young age have the SKILL to match it.

And the other way around there is alot of 35+ year old rappers that have a lot of skill but dont have anything "new" to say and there for is not praised for it. For example The Colis favorite K-Rino.

As its been already stated, most artists don't make timeless pieces of art at any age. So the fact that some people do it before they're old enough to drink or rent a car is extraordinary.

Cause most 19 year old rappers are putting out illmatic. And most 24 year olds arent putting out thriller. I'm 24 and I ain't done shyt close to thriller. They were forever known right then in history books my dude. Every ones trying to make a mark and they did in a relative short time.
I think his point is, most people of ANY age aren't putting out Illmatic or Thriller.

People always say "So and so did _______ by age 18. What were you doing at 18" when in reality, when it comes to doing something historic, most people of any age aren't doing it. So don't put emphasis on the age as much as the accomplishment. The age shouldn't factor in on how impressive the feat is

Not saying I all the way agree, I haven't full thought it out but that was his point.

my 7 year old niece said she ran like a cheetah last year... how impressive is that :francis:

What's impressive is perspective... sometimes you dont expect someone so young to have a particular perspective or maturity. Like how some people are 'running like cheetahs' while some people are making "Keep Ya Head Up" :upsetfavre: candle and the sun, that shyt dont even out

what does that have to do with the music? Ice Cube made GREAT music, Nas makes GREAT music, Rakim, KRS One, Pac, OutKast were young as on their first album/s. there's cats who made amazing, insightful, thought provoking music in their teenage years & there's guys who just talked shyt and did it badly (like ICP as evidenced by that video)

Its a dumb thing to say

Creativity and talent is not sumthin that progresses wit age
U may learn to harness it better wit experience but it doesnt necesarily mean ur work will be better(as weve seen time and time again)

How is it more impressive that Nas made Illmatic at 19 or MJ made Thriller at 24? They were already basically fully developed adults at the apex of their creativity :dahell:

U cant compare that to prefesional moves in the real world where education experience and contacts r essential factors

And most artists make the best work when theyre relatively young anyways not when they old
TI made Trap Muzik @ 22:mjcry:

And Medium Sean is young as fukk. But when Pac was that age and Biggie was that age we get Makaveli and some piff on LAD. Look at this nikka Young Thugger... this nikka a grown man actin like a bytch. For real, a bytch.

I blame George Bush and Delores Tucker :francis:
