Why do you nikkas seem to forget with it being a business move for Dr. Buss, it was a thing where you can't allow a player to be running down the court during preseason games yelling "fukkin pay me" while you sit court side? No owner is going to put up with that BS unless you're Dan Gilbert
Is that why Shaq was traded?

The organization didn't have a problem putting up with a player who insisted on a prominent role all season long when he was the worst starting player in the entire league...stunting player development for another year...something Kupchak acknowledged this year.

:francis:

But it was worth it because of 60 points in a meaningless game.

You act like he was hindering progress. These dudes weren't going to win more whether he was out there or not. Byron Scott is the HC. How much player development was going to happen anyway? Might as well make dough off him one more time. A milli in one night off merch alone. Probably one the best selling jerseys this season. Reason why fans still came to Staples this past season. Buss fam not mega rich like other owners. This is their moneymaker. Kobe was good biz this season

Lol. No you choose Shaq. You always choose Shaq.

For the same reason they referenced in that Magic Moment documentary:

It's easier to find another SG who could be Penny, but you'll never find another Shaq

You think Shaq would've gotten 2 more championships out of LA? :childplease:

He took em to the chip the last year he was there (they lost to the Pistons)
Then he went to the Heat and their win total improved from 42 to 59 in his 1st year there.
and he led them to the title in their 2nd year there.

I see no reason why that wouldn't have been possible in Los Angeles had the Lakers organization and leadership (I'm looking at you, Phil) made a stronger effort to resolve their issues.
Instead they seemed to have taken sides and Shaq felt disrespected. On the one hand...Shaq has felt disrespected just about everywhere. On the other hand...for Dr. Buss not to side with Shaq when Shaq saved that franchise does seem fukked up.

Actually, there was 1 thing that stood in the way of continued titles in LA....

This was a great article very inspiring.

But his family life is very sad.

His wife will never trust him and hasn't since 2003 and him ethering his father for being a mediocre player in the league and making excuses.

The story about him switching up at halftime against the magic :heh: cmon man cmon man he's playing to his stans with that one

:wow: this is amazing work by the elephant cacette Ramona.

Give her a Pulitzer.

Still reading......

It took Pau Gasol to win 2 titles in the last 13 years. One against a (relatively weak) Magic team. The other in 7 games against an aging Celtics team.

I don't understand the logic of some stans here.

Are you fans of Kobe and pushing for him to personally enrich himself? Or are you fans of the Lakers who want to see your team win?

Winning makes money so I don't see how anyone could argue against Shaq. And they arguably would have been much more competitive in this mid 2000 years.

The last 3 years of Lakers teams have been the 3 worst Laker teams of all time. Consider how bad that is. So when I ask "was it worth it?", are Laker fans happy that Kobe is super rich and the Buss family is super rich and the franchise is in shambles from a competitive point of view?

Is that worth one 60 point game that you've all been in your feelings over in the last week?

:ld:

2 championships > 1 championships, so yes they made the right decision. Plus the Kobe retirement tour most likely raked in Millions for them.

If u knew anything you would know shaq has a problem with not being considered the top dog. It happened at Orlando, la, and Miami
