Choosing Shaq
Shaq went to Miami and played with D-Wade. Shaq had ridiculous numbers and D-Wade got injured and went 7 with Detroit. Next year Wade had the refs in his pocket, Alonzo was backing Shaq up, they brought in The Glove and won a chip.
IF Shaq stayed with LA who was gonna help him win a ring?

Kobe Bryant Says He'd Like to be Traded
And those aren't even realistic, Kobe only wanted to be traded to CHI or the Clippers.
LA would've been a middling Western conference team and the Spurs would've won another ring.
Kobe honestly might've gotten another ring just because of how competitive he is and him pushing management to make his team better. And that would be the end of it.
In reality, Kobe went to 3 more straight finals after Shaq was gone. Plus he had the scoring god seasons in between.
It may not have been popular at the time because Kobe sounded like a bytch ratting Shaq out, but it was the right move. And just like Vince McMahon says "what's best for business"
