yeah this team has to win now, because they're losing half their bench when comes time to pay people.

David Lee is gone regardless
Harrison Barnes can get paid more somewhere else
Iggy might stick around
Bogut they have keep and pay a good penny for.
Speights is probably out
Klay will get paid (probably max too)
Obviously Curry will getting Max
Draymond Green is getting a nice little check.

Thats doesn't leave a lot of money for the bench.

Klay already got his contract, they'll max out Draymond, and they won't let Barnes walk.

As long as they keep Curry, Klay, Dray and Barnes together they can mix and match the rest of the pieces.

Steph signed that contract extension over 2 and a half years ago. Steph's rookie contract he signed in 2009 was expiring in 2013. Remember, during the lockout season of 2011-12 he was injured and only played 26 out of the 66 games. Then in the 2012-13 preseason he sprained his ankle again and the team still agreed to an extension on the eve of the season.

Steph did play the majority of his games during his first two years. This is probably why the team felt it was well worth the risk giving him a 4 year $44 million extension.

So he still has two more years after this one and his contract is running out at the perfect time. He might be making $30 million per season with the cap jumping up to $110 million+.

Plus he'll be entering the prime of his career at what? Age 29? For a PG who is as skilled as him, as long as he stays healthy he will have a long career.

They can only keep Dray or Barnes, they aren't getting both, Dray is looking at a max, they can't overpay for both.

They will keep both of them, Iguodala and Lee will expire by the time Barnes next contract would kick in.

Doubt it, many teams see him as potential stretch four, he's a plus defender and solid scorer, many teams may have a bigger role for him and could over pay, again, they will have 3 max deals after paying Curry (yes I know the other max deals won't be 2017 max deals), this teams is back in the WCF or Finals again, they price continues to go up. Trust teams may just force GS's hands to overpay him at the minimum, so you will pay him 25% of the 90 million projected cap??

Optimistic But I Got Hands Tho
David Lee for sure has to put his house up for sale. He's owed $15 million next year.

Welcome to Philadelphia David

I think they will move Igoudala as well to help fill out the rest of the roster and get away from the luxury tax.

Again, they won't have to deal with Barnes needing a new contract until the end of next season, and after that they can still give him the qualifying offer. By then, Lee will probably be traded, and Iguodala will be expiring.

They will have two max deals under the old salary cap, which will look like solid deals when the new cap takes over. This is why maxing out Draymond Green isn't really that big of a deal, because when the new cap takes over his deal is going to look like a bargain compared to all he gives them.

So GS will pay a max deal to Barnes, hmm ok, is he that important to them?, you would have 70 million tied up between Green, Curry, and Thompson, and you want to Barnes to add another 23 million to that, ok, thanks. And I guess they let Bogut walk too, good luck with that bench.

Barnes isn't getting a max deal from anyone :wtf: :dead: He's not due for an extension until after next season and he'll be a restricted free agent ontop of that. What are you talking about? If Green gets a max they will have $42 million between Curry, Klay and Green, Curry's contract doesn't expire until 2017, and he'll get the new max when that comes around while Green and Klay are on the old max ($15 million per season each).

Bogut is locked up until 2017, and when his contract is up he'll be 33, they are going to look for his replacement (draft) in the next year or two. The core of that team is the most important thing, it's Curry, Klay, Barnes and Green, everyone else is replaceable.

I said that. David Lee is the highest paid player, and he barely gets playing time. Their window is one that's never been seen. Everyone overachieving. Their role players have emerged as star players, and their star players are now role players. Iggy/Lee/Livingston are all starters anywhere else. They gotta win now.
iggy is washed up. cant hit a jumper or free throw for shyt.
but perhaps coming off the bench is to blame

Someone else immensely profiting off "buying low" on Steph is UnderArmour. His shoes sellout in the smaller guard sizes and there's even a secondary flip market on eBay (which I don't think I've ever seen for a new shoe from a non Nike brand not named Yeezy).

I think it was in the 5-8 mil/yr range while top tier make 25-30 mil/yr range.

I get why Nike didn't re-up him, they had the big 3 (Kobe/Lebron/Durant) and hedged with the next 2 ISO stars (Kyrie/Harden), but they treated him pretty shytty having him in the low tier HyperFuse's when his ankle kept exploding.

I bet if they offered him the same cash and gave him a "hidden signature" shoe like the Harden Run The One, he probably woulda stayed. Good thing he bolted ... the UA's have done wonders for his ankles.
