I never heard about no wait list for after school. Obama got My Brother’s Keeper across the country on top of the after school programs in every inner city hosted by non profits and universities and teachers. On top of the YMCA’s and Boys and Girls clubs and churches in every hood. Its not about making the sports team, a lot of schools have open gym and intramurals if you aren’t good enough for the team.
This issue is not one of after school activities or lack of extracurriculars.
You’re talking about teens who are led astray, mentally corrupted, and could give a fukk about school.
I’ve seen after school and summer programs fill up and have a waiting list, I think sometimes that just boils down to the area you’re in. Everyone get the federal dollars for those programs but for whatever reason some places wont market them like that. So folks don’t really know about it. But that’s just for the younger kids, because I agree with you on the last part, that type of stuff won’t do shyt for them gits in that 12-14 and up range. For most of the real knuckle heads 9th grade is the last hurrah. You might dial it in and show up every now and again in 10th, but you ain’t showing up at all in 11th. By the time what would be your 12th grade year roll around you full blown out there. You gotta think outside the box with them. Me personally if I had kids I’d be like you got one time to go to summer school in HS, if that 10th grade year come up and they gotta go again Ima just take them out of school altogether and put them in GED classes. Even if they grades str8, but I see they hell bent on running the streets I’d still do it. Once they got that GED it’s trade school, micro enterprise classes, or the military depending on what type of kid they were. Ion know how you would put that into a platform to try to implement on a program level with how society is, but I think that shyt would work.
