No I don't think so. The reality is there are two trains of thought at work here. One wants the government to fix the problem, really I should say wait on the government to address the problem. The other believes the community should address the problem. My thing is if you fall in the former outlook, you have to be a fool. Cuz you've been waiting a long time.

If you're part of the latter train of thought, let's just say you know where your kids are on a Friday night and have expectations you demand of them.
Still don't get it, no one said they will fix the problem, I said they create programs to help you where you lack, and make your life easier

You are speaking on opinion, not facts, and this is a major reason why we suffer as a people, we make talking points that are based on how we feel. This is 2019, studies have been done on all of this from UNBIASED people. Listen to them before you listen to your preacher or a fox news host, PLEASE!

Both are necessary imo. Government responsibility and parental intervention.

But I understand where you’re coming from with that latter- I’m the type of parent where my kid is like a walking gps tracker and have them involved in different arts and sports activities, even if it means sacrificing my time or finances. But keeping it 100, I’m still aware that things could go left or could have if I wasn’t given the guidance as a teen/young adult to get an education and had the work ethic instilled in me as a youth.. and just being a few paychecks away and depleted savings from these parents or even more basic than that- if my parents weren’t “well off” or financially successful by black societal standards. It’s cyclical. At the same time, realistically, my parents had long work hours and same applies to me. No way to know what your child is doing 24/7 bc I got in some shyt that I had no business doing but still had the discernment to have limits bc I learned from experience - some kids don’t have either. Not always the parent’s fault.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
Newark felt like an extension of nyc the few times I’ve been through :yeshrug:

Depends what part of NYC you speaking on. The hoods on Staten Island definitely look similar to Newark hoods infrastructure wise.

And before gentrification hit NYC in full force Downtown Newark and Downtown Brooklyn were pretty much almost identical.

The real part of Jersey that feels like an extension is anything across Manhattan like Jersey City, Hoboken, West New York etc.

At the end of the day you can take a subway from Newark right into Manhattan and they accept the metro card.

Be completely honest, would you willingly raise your kids in Baltimore?:comeon:
Yup.. my kids have been in various “inner” cities in the NY tri-state and Mid- Atlantic, along the east coast. Private and public schools. Last recent move is out in the burbs bc I wanted a house and change of scenery. Trust- there’s kids out in the majority black “outskirts” and enclaves, that are getting caught up in worse shyt than “city” kids bc they have money and access with something to prove or just getting into dumb shyt for competition. They are more “protected”. It’s not as blatant and less discussed but it’s happening.

Nah Baltimore is a shyt hole. Atlanta is gorgeous and lovely. But that's the only other black city I've been to. But stop lying to yourself.

Atlanta metro is lovely and gorgeous but the inner city of Atlanta is not that gorgeous or lovely at all.

And I’m being fair because Baltimore is a east coast city and we do not rep “metros” on the east coast. If you live outside the city limits you are not part of the city period.

With that being said Baltimore has some nice ass burbs outside of its city limits.

I thought the PATH, NJ transit and metro north was all the same under nyc subway jurisdiction :mjlol:

And we have another person who is lost on what government does

Again, the governments job is to allow you opportunities to do YOUR job as a parent. They make programs to help you where you are weak at, how do yall not understand this?

You know why you don't work every day of the week, and for 16 hour days? The government

You know why you have free schools, and your kids can learn? the government

You know why you have roads to drive your car, and not pay private companies every time you use it? The government

You know why your black but can go to most schools, and live where you want? The government

You know why deadbeat dadS can't just walk away form their kids without paying anything? The government

You know why the government did these things? PEOPLE FOUGHT FOR HELP SINCE THE GOVERNMENT HAS MORE RESOURCES THEN THE AVERAGE PERSON!

YALL nikkaS NEED EDUCATION, YOUR IGNORANCE IS HURTING US!

Number one lets get one thing straight, the government shouldn't be in the business of allowing you opportunities to do your job as a parent. If you're not ready to have babies and raise them, then don't have kids. Yet, what scenario do we see play out in every city? All these single mothers just making baby after baby, and baby after baby. These deadbeats not living up to their obligations as men either. Nobody put a gun to their head and forced them to make all those babies. Those same babies that they're incapable of raising, eventually end up terrorizing the community later on.

I'm glad the government made it so we're not under legalized serfdom, but you know what I like even more? Seeing folks not repeat the cycle. Seeing kids hit the books instead of the streets. Seeing folks willing to go out and get a job and work. It's a beautiful thing seeing Black women going out and getting educations and careers instead of that worthless nikka on the block. I'm blessed to have relationships with quite a few throughout the years. It's such a breath of fresh air compared to some other women I've also known. Too many in fact. The same types you're on here wishing for the government to take care of.

We pay tax dollars genius, and it's part of the government's job to provide and maintain infrastructure. So we're clear though, a lot of the reasoning behind infrastructure, is to support local businesses and our ability to travel back and forth to those businesses. I point that out to emphasize it's a cold world out here. It's about a dollar out here. You're out here waiting on the government to fix Black people's problems, you're a naive fool. Don't hold your breath while waiting either.

You know why a lot of free schools you mentioned ain't shyt? Read my first sentence in this reply.

What's funny about you mentioning deadbeat dads not being able to walk away is, we really do have a subculture present in our communities of what we used to call, baby mamas. These dudes been out here impregnating this chick and that chick and often enough they're not paying these broads anything. You want the government to handle that though huh? Even if these females aren't interested in the government's help?

I'm not going to keep going on, cuz you're in lala land. I can tell you lack experience in life and experience in dealing with people. Stop being so idealistic and take the shades off and look at how flawed people really are.

Metro North, Long Island Railroad and the NYC Subway are all under MTA

The Path is under the New York and New Jersey Port Authority. The New Jersey railroad is NJT

Metro North also has a Connecticut branch so you can literally go to Yale University and do an internship at Manhattan.

I agree, only thing I'd say is I'd rather see the inverse with more parental responsibility, and less calls for government intervention. What's funny to me is, folks on here will talk all day about staying on code, starting our own businesses, protecting our own communities, making our own content, pro-Black means being exclusively with each other, etc.. They say all that and then when they see a video of a bunch of reckless Black youth acting a fool, all of a sudden they feel like the government should do something. What happened to all that pro-active energy!?!!?!?!?!? In addition, how many threads do we have on here blaming the government for many of the ills affecting Black communities? We'll point out the government's responsibility in redlining, mass incarceration, war on drugs, gentrification, lack of concern for our problems when compared to other groups' issues, law enforcement, etc......................................and then turn around and ask for the government's help with our own families. How's THAT for some irony.

I agree with you on it being difficult to raise kids too. I had both parents, and like @Deacon Frye said, I myself still got into some occasional dumb shyt that I knew better of too.

Come on, you moved out in the burbs to give your kids a better education. Stop it:mjlol:

Baltimore is the roughest city Ive been too. Never seen a downtown that goes from nice to literally dilapidated and abandoned buildings just a block from each other. Went to camden yards then walked back to my hotel, and North Howard street is

This is sad, you as a black person is talking against the government, when it was them that freed you from slavery by LAW. It was them who ended Jim Crow by LAW. It was them who allowed you so much more, and is the reason why people ALL OVER THE WORLD come here to live, and you are talking old school redneck rhetoric, and as a BLACK person! Life is a trip. People forget the Government works for YOU, you don't work for them. Because yall don't get this, you see them as an Authority, and you don't need their help, when its their job to make your life easier, that is why you pay TAXES!

People, both black & white, gave their lives to get the government to help where they were weak, and against corporations abusing them, ONLY to have the people who benefited from it talk AGAINST IT!:ohhh:

I'm done, do you. I'm gonna try my best to push my belief, hopefully it works, and people get help to really live the American dream, and we can separate from those like you who don't like us or think like us. I respect your way of thinking, we just need to not be around each other. I really want those of us who think like me to come together, and those who think like you to come together, and we can have a real competition on which ways of thinking is better. If we could do it with little to no cheating, like has been done for majority of this country, I feel my side is gonna win by a landslide

The beauty is I really think we are about to do this, the upcoming elections are gonna show who is right just based on which ways make peoples lives better, IF the people choose properly. So far, the old thinking aint working too great. Once we use government the way they are intended to be used, shyt is gonna be lovely. The places that have the old way of thinking, will still benefit, but I have a feeling the people who live in these places, are gonna get envious of the opps, and either spread lies & hate, and rest will change their thinking. We've seen this already, most of our thinking is NOTHING like how people who grew up before the 60's think, and thank god for it, we think like hippies. Even those who shyt on them, live a better life because of them:lolbron:
