My parents bought me and my siblings computers, video games and books. I loved staying home and playing adventure games on my PC or reading on my bed. I definitely wasn't out in the streets, doing shyt like this.

That means you had money to eat good food which effects your thinking, and you could enjoy yourself. If you are poor, you can't do all of that, this should be common sense!

The government isn't god and the government will never replace a family and local community. Its as simple as that.

Also there are a lot of poor and broke people around the world and not everyone has the same problems. One thing that is unique in the black community is single parenthood being rampant which makes raising a kid SOLO, harder. It's hard enough to raise a kid with two parents, imagine trying to do it alone. So that is one thing that individuals in their own homes need to fix. As a kid of a single mother, I recognized that just by being a male and getting older my mother while was a great single parent was lacking in ways that a man fills in the gap when it comes to raising a young man and I was a very chill kid who was more quiet and a homebody more than the average teen so she was lucky in that regard. Still there was a lot of unsupervised and unstructured periods of time that I lived in because with one parent in the house, someone has to go to work and provide and that means less at home time with the kid.

So that is one thing at a local level that needs to be fixed. A male has an authority in the home, especially over male children that a woman more times than not simply cannot project.

Not saying all the stuff about lack of opportunities and stuff that a government can be doing don't have an impact but in my opinion, the above is the biggest issue.

I already know you are one of those conservatives who just want to ignore the power of government, and just say its about the family. Do you realize the reason why conservatives talk like that is so they can have states rights, and having states rights means they can do things like eugenics to the people they deem unchangeable without the federal government intervening. Everything you wrote is one of the reasons why blacks were deemed worthless, and had medical test done on us, women made to not have children, and just society looking down on us. BUT, none of this shyt has been studied, its all opinions!

You are assuming the male will be a positive role model, and you are assuming that will make things better. Why did blacks still suffer before the 60's, if it was just about the male in the house. If you look at the gangs in the 70's, most had fathers in the house, and shyt was even more crazy in the 70's. The truth is society was fukked up, and a lot of men just came home from war fukked up in the heads, but out government shytted on them. Somehow, people just forgot all of this, and keep repeating the same opinions when they can be proven wrong, easily!

I do understand its stressful dealing with kids you care about but they won't listen, because they don't see the big picture. I give up sometimes myself, but because I know just ignoring shyt is making it worse, i have to say something sometimes to these kids. We are all they have, society just sees them as either thugs or low level workers who have no self control, and don't want much out of life. The system sees them as money, because they get paid sending them to prisons. I just don't want to turn into that old man who is stressed out trying to get young people to see the big picture, only to be stressed out from all the preaching.

No I don't think so. The reality is there are two trains of thought at work here. One wants the government to fix the problem, really I should say wait on the government to address the problem. How so?

They enable the babymamas who know they can get pregnant and have a place to stay and food with these unlimited social programs. It should be a limit on how long you can live in section 8 housing and use foodstamps/ WIC if you are able bodied and under 65. You should be disqualified if you have a child by more than 1 man if you just had a child in the previous year or two and now you got another one on the way.

The current way this shyt is all setup just breeds more dysfunction and Baltimore isn't the only city like this. Baltimore county put a clamp down on section 8 housing because they didn't want to take on the people from former city housing projects all bunched up in certain parts of the county bringing with them the same attitudes and behaviors.

If you know you have a certain time limit (let's say 5 years ) to get your shyt together as far as career wise( no McDonalds shyt or low wage nonsense) plus parenting classes and monitoring your child's academic progress which includes attending PTA meetings then you will be more prepared to adult and your kids will be better off then just letting them run wild cause mama off fukking dope boys with her hoodrat friends.
