Yea but Trey Burke actually had room for improvement. Smart's would have been a top 5 pick (GREAT chance at number 2), there really isnt much moving up he can do and chances are he'll fall.

But what's the point in being the No. 2 pick in the draft at a position like PG when this dude isn't ready to run the point for an NBA franchise full time.

He wasn't a point guard in high school and really played the position this past season out of necessity. He was on the radar of GM's coming into this season as a potential lottery pick at the 2, and the promise he showed playing the point vaulted his draft stock, but just from watching him this season, he's got a way to go before I would feel comfortable with him at the 1 on a permanent basis. I think he understands this as well, and that's why he's coming back.

See I didnt know he was switching to an entirely new position, I guess that makes sense as he was to get comfortable with the position something he really wont get a chance to do in the NBA, I can respect that.

Despite his ability to out-perform collegiate competition, there are still some somewhat glaring holes in Smart’s game, and the earlier he declares for the NBA draft, the earlier these weaknesses are exposed. While he loves to attack the rim and go for contact, Smart utilizes terrible shot selection. Despite taking nearly five threes per game, he only converts on 29 percent of his attempts, well below the average. This is the main reason his field goal percentage barely sits above 40 percent. Smart also has one of the highest turnover rates among qualifying point guards; only nine guards in the draftexpress.com database cough up the ball more often. Moreover, Smart is not the most athletic player. He plays below the rim which is troubling when attempting to finish through traffic, and is inconsistent when checking speedy guards on defense. Lin shares similar struggles. He also has a hard time checking quick guards and has a very high turnover rate for a point guard.

Hes not a pg hes a 2 whos not overly fast or athletic and has a broke ass jumper hes never gonna be an elite nba prospect no matter how long he stays

The way they describe him is the way they praise MKG with cliches and intangibles like "he works hard" and "is a winner" since theyres nothing tangible he does great

Just seen this on ATH. Damian Lillard is doing pretty good as a point guard that stayed in school. Not that he had options of coming out early but still. The 1 and done's got paid but he's getting the ROY trophy. Ask Cory Joseph and Marquis Teague if they should've stayed in school.

Wiggins is still better than anyone in that last class tho, he has elite bron lite athleticism.

That depends on how hard you work. One Year Developing in the NBA >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> One Year Developing at a watered down College Level.

D-League >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> College B-Ball.

Point is his development is on him but he will develop better at the next level than playing watered down basketball.

I dont know...man just seeing how spontaneous injuries are...passing up being a #2 pick is kinda hard to imagine to me.

Again, Lillard was a fukking 2 star coming out of highschool. Of course he'd stay in school. Teague should've stayed and probably would've been drafted higher this year but he won a championship for us so I had no problems with him leaving. Though actually, I'd rather see Teague on the bulls getting very little playing time then him having to suffer on some shytty franchise like the wizards or kings. Thibs is a good coach for Teague and I'm excited to see what he turns into in the league.

College Basketball is not going to refine his game. The level of competition is a joke. He is better getting that money and developing as he goes. Either way if he puts in the work he will be in the NBA for a long time. He could refine his game all he wants in college and still get crushed in the NBA and put in the bushes.

You say this, yet in another sentence you got people hyping the next class up so much so what are you saying with this. The players coming out of high school will be tougher competition than anybody he faced this past season.

I think this is a good move. He gonna develop just that much more to make him attractive enough to still be a lottery pick. I know it.

Lest we forget Jabari Parker might stay past one and done. Prolly not, but he put it out there.

naw it was a smart decision if he wasn't ready and confident he would have eventually played himself out the league or be a journeyman making the league minimum...plus he was still a top 10 pick and the difference in what he what he would have made isn't glaring, this aint the NFL...now he's making eight figures and eating off endorsements, wise investment coming back.....


as for smart maybe its just a matter of maturity and other things planned for the future other than sports.....confidence is everything if a player lacks that especially in there game, failure is imminent....

If you've never seen him play don't comment. Dude is good and is a winner. I'm glad he is making his OWN mind and not letting others do it for him. He will only get better and become at worst a solid player in the league barring injury. He is better than the Harrison twins too.....stronger and plays smarter.

This....he was a 2 guard prospect. I knew he would play the point at OSU because his high school teammate and backcourt mate at OSU is not capable of handling those duties in big time hoops
