really wanted to like it, but this shyt is dull as fukk. this shyt is just not a wu album. as most of the members already said, this is rza's shyt. and that's what it sounds like. a rza album that features the wu. it's his sound, his vision entirely. rza's live instrumentation has always been garbage and it's no different here. sad thing is I had really low expectations coming in so the album really comes as no surprise to me. time for rza to swallow his pride and realize he's out of touch now. bring in some outside producers give us back the real wu feel.

So after a second full listen in my car I really do like the album but the one thing it's missing that's still putting it under the W for me is the lack of chemistry. It's there in spurts but you can tell not everyone was together while recording it and the best Wu projects come from that cohesion and togetherness and feeding off of each other. Also the fact that there are tracks where RZA did his Captain Kirk thing and told everyone what the subject matter would be and deck has alesady said that was something he didn't like and I'm sure he wasn't the only one. I feel like dudes will take more ownership of something when they can contribute ideas and make the songs they want to make. Hopefully we can get another one since Ghost has mentioned it

Wu albums have always been RZA's vision

yea well apparently the muthafukkers went blind cause this shyt is weak. back in the day his shyt was actually creative and complemented the rest of the members. this shyt just sounds like a mess. but with all the conflict from before you knew this wasn't gonna be great. these guys just don't fukk with each other like that anymore. sounds like they just said fukk it and made this happen to appease the fans. like I said....rza gotta swallow his pride and allow the other members to get in on the creative process. ghost, rae, and gza have all proven they can release dope ass albums without him, while staying true to the wu formula. every time rza controls everything, shyt turns out to be a disappointment. he just doesn't have it any more. even the other members see that.

I was just thinking this exact thought when I first heard the album...

I disagree. Rae's best projects have RZA attached, with his vision. Same with Ghostface - his best albums are collaborative with RZA. The other albums are good-to-great, but they also don't have that Wu sound. GZA ehhhh. Masta Killa is the only one that put out a great Wu-vintage sounding album, without 100% RZA involvement. I think if they all were in on the creative process, you'd have another collabo sounding album like Iron flag.

RZA's vision isn't blind or off, it's just different from where most fans want Wu to be or where they thought they'd be but it started with Forever. The group started dealing with higher thoughts and concepts than the stuff they'd been doing for four years and this sounds like the natural evolution of that. When they made the W, they were still in their late 20s early 30s so it was kinda easy to recapture that vibe from just 7 years prior but now RZA is obviously in a different place which makes sense; most people in their 40s aren't thinking like they were in their 20s
