On a wrestling Discord I’m a member of, the lucha contingent are having a meltdown over it. And these guys have been shytting all over AAA for years.
I'd imagine. Everything is going to funnel to AAA and make it harder for CMLL and The Crash or mid sized companies to get talent, which is eventually going to probably put those companies under or make them so uncompetitive and just leave fewer places to work or make any good money.

Depends on how much WWE is willing to pay AAA talent. There are indie talents making more money than NXT talent, and TKO will easily be able to get away with paying AAA talent less than they do NXT talent because the standard/cost of living in Mexico is so much lower.

I think it is very uncommon and difficult for foreign takeovers in Japan, but I'm sure that's something they're going to look into. Weren't there rumors they were trying to buy AJPW a few years ago?
NOAH's been their main target since the mid 2010's when La Nariz wanted his global NXT idea to hit. They even have a deal with Cyberfight -which owns both NOAH and DDT- through a streaming service (Abema).

The relationship with All Japan barely lasted a couple of months and basically ended once the Abema deal was official -supposedly because it meant exclusivity in terms of talent- and in the end it only amounted to Regal's kid having a little excursion to AJPW.

With all that being said, All Japan's president is in love with fukkery and has said in Tokyo Sports that he has rejected offers to buy All Japan. How real are those claims? no clue, neither Tokyo Sports nor Fukuda are reliable sources :russ:

Like y’all don’t realize, the Japanese government has to approve foreign investment into Japanese companies. Not just acquisitions, but mere investments. The Japanese government is extremely protectionist of home grown companies.

That’s not to say it’s impossible, but if WWE wanted to establish a presence in Japan, it would be considerably easier to just start their own NXT branch from scratch and outbid Japanese promotions for talent to kill them slowly.

It still wouldn’t be easy, but would be easier than trying to do the near impossible.
The problem WWE faces by making their own promotion is that without a TV deal they are almost dead on arrival. There's no local talent that can carry a company by his/her sheer presence. They'd need a TV deal plus spend a lot on getting any wrestler worth a fukk and probably have Nakamura and AJ Styles work there for like a year to establish the promotion and get something going.

Buying a promotion makes that transition easier because the infrastructure (as in booking buildings, cutting deals with local people, having a roster, etc.) is already in place and WWE doesn't have show up as a huge disruptor, instead they can promote itself as a "helper" for whatever company they buy and work from there.

Both options are risky and have downsides, but I believe starting from zero is a much more difficult task that has a bigger chance of failing badly and being a bigger money loser.

Problem is that they would likely have near zero chance of getting past Japanese government approval of the purchase. They likely wouldn’t have much better chance of even getting an investment into a Japanese company approved.

Which is probably why they still haven't been able to enter the market after a decade of trying. Continue to push for a purchase is still "safer" than the alternative.

1) RIP Triplemania fukkery
2) Konnan now has a larger supply of American talent he can use for the next 37 anti-Mexico factions
3) :mjlol: at SRS and Meltzer charging people for things like potential contract news but not having a hint about this
