Stuck on hardware sales
hardware ultimately wasn't the plan
That was the plan all along

3 different statements.

Now why would you try to present them as the same???Why not address the argument as it was made:jbhmm:

"stuck on hardware sales"=implying hardware isn't all that important

Same person who spreads the gospel of gamepass and multiplatform-ism and downplays exclusives aka "hardware ultimately wasn't the plan"

Pretty much, and thats the thing that makes me go :mjlol: at Sony stans.

They don't know or care about the history but consistently want to talk about the history. Xbox is only around because MS didn't want Sony encroaching on the PC space and so that they could become more of a household name. They are still "the bad guys" and will always be as long as they are trillion dollar machine.

They came into the gaming industry and disrupted the status quo, from adding ethernet ports, to online profiles, stores and dlc/microtransactions, and the XB1 was suppose to continue that trend, however they fumbled that so bad that they got bullied into axing everything that would have made the xb1 a disruptor and just tried to out Sony and Nintendo at console gaming when they are at the heart of gaming consoles They gave it a shot, and its not happening.

Fast-forward gamepass, play anywhere and then again to now and them not having beef with making a game for PS/Nintendo and it again disrupts the whole industry. This time heavily in their favor tho, MS was never trying to make money off selling hardware aka consoles.... that was never the goal. And tbh it's not the goal on Sony nor nintendo. Traditionally it was just easier to make money on the software side by having more hardware sold.
For Sony and Xbox The consoles were a way for them to push other products they created, like CD's, Blu rays, Blu ray disc...etc etc. Even back to the Nintendo CD
Aka "That was the plan all along." as if Microsoft was playing 4D chess 🤣

Partial List of things Microsoft has sold this gen:

✅ Toasters
✅ Refrigerators
✅ Nail polish
✅ Controller sweaters
✅ Red ring of death posters
✅ Krispy Kreme donuts
✅ Crocs
❌Consoles

A can of beans isn’t really that far fetched. Probably a better business direction than consumer electronics at this point

:hula:
That was the plan all along."
Again two very different statments.

One is about the current reality.

In your Strawman argument you add a timeframe to it “all along”

As of today sonys official stance is “hardware sales isn’t all that important in their own metrics to success.”
Sony said:
Sell-in units was the focus but now we are focused on monthly active users (MAU). The management is focused on engagement and MAU. This is leading to profitability.

Now would you take this statement and claim sony is saying

“hardware ultimately wasn't the plan”
“That was the plan all along”
:usure:

That shyt sound like something @The Mad Titan
would say about xbox

I can't handle this conversation anymore, I'm triggered from the FFVII Remake 3 thread.

I downplay exclusives now? I guess since it's not the end all be all, (and according to you Sony stans 2025 wrap ups yall either :mjlol: ) I downplay exclusives. Maybe it's yall hype up exclusives :ohhh:

Most of the greatest gameplay experiences this generation and last were multiplat

It's crazy that you think MS a software company ultimate goal was to out sale playstation a hardware company in hardware and continue to do so every generation. It would have been nice bragging rights for them, but let's be honest the reason the OG xbox was even greenlit was to be a household name and competitor to playstation, and to do that it needed services. The 360 was profitable because of subs and digital sales definitely not hardware sales... and Immediately after the 360 we were going to get a console that was even more digitality dependent and service based.

It's not about 4D chess and clearly there were pivots and changes as any successful company should do. Playstation should have shown you that by now, with its belief in generations and exclusives instead you have console timed exclusives and cross platform gaming well into the middle of the generation
