You're saying this like it's some sort of shocking revelation. If someone can get a PS5 at the same price as a Series S and a Series X cost the same as a PS5 Pro why would anybody at all buy the Xbox?

You're thinking about this all wrong. Microsoft's objective was never to simply be the #1 console player. They came into the console market and found some success and their first move was to try and expand beyond it. It was always how can we leverage this into something beyond it. In hindsight they didn't achieve those goals but the plan was never to just be the #1 player and that's it because if it was what you're talking about is the sensible path. They're the wide open WR whose eyes were in the end zone before they even caught the pass and ended up dropping the ball.

Nothing you said has anything to do with what I said. I didn't say their goal wasn't to be the #1 player I said that wasn't simply to be that. The unveiling of the Xbox One makes that obvious when they spent as much time talking about other stuff and attempting to "own the living room" than they did talking about it as a pure gaming device. I don't know how you watch that and come away with all they care about is being the #1 gaming console./doubt

They wanted the brand to be bigger than gaming and it became much smaller as a result. Had they focused on just gaming their entire path is different.

The goal of a video game conglomerate is to make successful games. Sony doesn't have a single game on the ATG seller's list. Half the list is Microsoft and Nintendo.No one gives a fukk how many consoles you sell, because if you add PC to the list, Microsoft wins by miles.
