I'm almost thirty and am back in community college. At some point in life you say fukk age and realize it's never too late to invest in yourself/education to try to make your life easier and create more opportunities for yourself. My ego didn't allow me to do this when I was 23 or 24. The fact of the matter is you're going to get older regardless; would you rather be older with the degree or without it? (Assuming college is your thing which it isn't for everybody)

Congrats on going back to school.... So you pretty much starting at square 1?
You had no prior college credits before now? :ohhh:

What are you going to school for?

Yeah it's never ever to late to go back, also trades or certs aren't bad and save a lot of money instead of investing in traditional colleges

I'm in nursing school.

I want to get into medicine because I figure there's always going to be a :flabbynsick: population. So there's always job security in medicine.

I am almost done. I will get my graduate degree at 28. A duel masters degree but I really want to go into supply-chain with the goal of becoming a supply-chain director for a hospital chain or something high-up in a company like Cardinal Health or McKesson.

After my graduate degree I will most likely start studying for my APICS certification and PMP project management certification. Those will come in due time. For now I am trying to get an entry level job in supply-chain on the healthcare side.

nikka who finishes college in 4 years nowadays?:heh: That shyt is mad unrealistic when you factor in people chaning majors, financial difficulties and all the distractions you gotta deal with :manny:
There definitely should be some form of education about majors BEFORE you get to college. I wish more schools did that. More times than not, you spend a year doing something that you thought you'd enjoy but it's actually different once you take the courses. Don't get me started on Gen-eds. :francis:

I notice it's people who get into college for PolSci or Liberal Arts that struggle the most.
You should join the brehs at engineering and computer science. I've seen way too many people I know fail or have to retake the same course two-three times. :wow::mjcry:

Was supposed to graduate summer of next year but shyt happened. Bad grades, probation, bullshytting around, changing majors all fukked me up. So I'm looking at graduating around 2017, hopefully right before I turn 23. :snoop:

My dad is on my ass though. Telling me I'm crazy for not finishing college in 4 years. :why:

Graduated 22 (5-year program with time for three 6-month work placements included) with BA in International Relations (Poly Sci/Marketing/Business) never going back to school. MBA is not worth it - Costs 120-250k and only useful when you are in the C-suite. So maybe once I become a VP level I will just do it part-time only if the company pays for it upfront. But never mention MBA on your resume unless it explicitly states REQUIRED (not "preferred"). I have a friend who got one at the age of 32 and he makes 20k less than I do, same damn field almost same position. Believe it, it works against you unless you are at least 50 years old. You do not want to seem over-qualified and exclude yourself from opportunities.

Also unless you are going to school for a good field you are interested in with a good 10 year outlook if you haven't already enrolled for your BA/BS - Do not bother. Seen way too many classmates fall by the waste side, but many are CACs that get their parents to pay the loan bill - Yet they are still not doing shyt with their lives so there's that...They had useless majors like communications, sociology, english, art history and some other crap.

Some of the worst advice I received (mainly from Black folk) is to go get a Master's right after your Bachelor's. NO ONE WILL HIRE YOU if you are 25-26 with no real work experience. It doesn't matter how many degrees you have. You will get locked out and fukked with no way to pay your loans back. That dude that just killed himself and his 2 kids mentioned on the other thread had a Doctorate's.

School is a Business. Use it to your advantage but do not take more than you need. This isn't the 80's anymore. More education isn't necessarily better in all circumstances.

Tag me if you want advice regarding your particular situation. I've seen all kinds of shyt. I know what the job outlook is for all industries in most regions of the U.S. For example don't get into law unless it's IP or Commercial/Business/Real Estate. All other types of Law there is way too much competition right now for gigs. And it's impossible to setup your own lucrative practice without good references you won't be able to get the big boy clients (not talking fortune 500 but below that) to keep your lights on.
