Graduated 22 (5-year program with time for three 6-month work placements included) with BA in International Relations (Poly Sci/Marketing/Business) never going back to school. MBA is not worth it - Costs 120-250k and only useful when you are in the C-suite. So maybe once I become a VP level I will just do it part-time only if the company pays for it upfront. But never mention MBA on your resume unless it explicitly states REQUIRED (not "preferred"). I have a friend who got one at the age of 32 and he makes 20k less than I do, same damn field almost same position. Believe it, it works against you unless you are at least 50 years old. You do not want to seem over-qualified and exclude yourself from opportunities.

Also unless you are going to school for a good field you are interested in with a good 10 year outlook if you haven't already enrolled for your BA/BS - Do not bother. Seen way too many classmates fall by the waste side, but many are CACs that get their parents to pay the loan bill - Yet they are still not doing shyt with their lives so there's that...They had useless majors like communications, sociology, english, art history and some other crap.

Some of the worst advice I received (mainly from Black folk) is to go get a Master's right after your Bachelor's. NO ONE WILL HIRE YOU if you are 25-26 with no real work experience. It doesn't matter how many degrees you have. You will get locked out and fukked with no way to pay your loans back. That dude that just killed himself and his 2 kids mentioned on the other thread had a Doctorate's.

School is a Business. Use it to your advantage but do not take more than you need. This isn't the 80's anymore. More education isn't necessarily better in all circumstances.

Tag me if you want advice regarding your particular situation. I've seen all kinds of shyt. I know what the job outlook is for all industries in most regions of the U.S. For example don't get into law unless it's IP or Commercial/Business/Real Estate. All other types of Law there is way too much competition right now for gigs. And it's impossible to setup your own lucrative practice without good references you won't be able to get the big boy clients (not talking fortune 500 but below that) to keep your lights on.

This should post alone should be a stick. I didn't realize the mistake I made until I was half into grad school. No one should be going to grad school without a minimum of 5 years and 5 year might be too little. I would only recommend it for someone that wants to do research and if the grad degree is in something like science or something STEM related. Actually I think graduate engineering is a waste of time....Don't quote me on it thou.

If I stayed at the junior college I was attending previous I probably wouldn't be graduating until 25. I left that school and enrolled in a vocational college. Best decision of my life. I'll finish the program in October and have my A+ certification a few weeks before I turn 23.

I graduated when I was 24 1/2; I started college when I was 20. I'm 28 right now. Because I was older than a lot of students shyt like parties and conversations and etc; were boring, because I did it before I went to college.

I'm in nursing school.

I want to get into medicine because I figure there's always going to be a :flabbynsick: population. So there's always job security in medicine.
:salute:

Not a nurse but work with them in the hospital. Male nurses get promoted quicker and more male nurses work in ICUs. Our nursing managers also told me they prefer hiring males because of the catty B.S. that goes on between the women. The male nurses for the most part avoid the B.S. complain less and just do they job.

Was supposed to graduate summer of next year but shyt happened. Bad grades, probation, bullshytting around, changing majors all fukked me up. So I'm looking at graduating around 2017, hopefully right before I turn 23. :snoop:

My dad is on my ass though. Telling me I'm crazy for not finishing college in 4 years. :why:
Old nikkas don't understand especially if they've never been to college. My dad was the same way talkin mad shyt about how other nikkas the same age as me that he knew of had already graduated and had houses n shyt. You should've seen his face the day I walked across stage though he was proud as shyt and he doesn't say a muhfukkin thing to me today. You're dad will be the same when you finish just tell him stfu for now

boost your gpa by doing classes online or through a community colege... schools take ur last 20 courses... regardless of if its done after ur degree or not...most of the time u need a 3.0 in those classes... but this is alot easier to accomplish if u take some filler classes
See my post dude... Don't get that MBA right now. Unless you got like 10 years exp and are senior management level already. :francis:

The average salary of a person graduating from my school is 92k within 3 months of graduations... i dont think its fair to tell dude as a blanket statement dont do ur mba unless u have 10 years exp... im in canada and the economy might be different... but options are different everywhere...

I wish I had the luxury of having to focus only on school but I've always been a workaholic, having a job and taking classes. My best semester academic wise was when I wasn't working. If money wasn't an issue for me, I would've been finished eight years ago :sadcam:

I'm currently at a community college getting a couple of math classes out of the way so I can transfer. I'm three courses away from having two AA degrees . I want to transfer next year to a CSU and get my public relations Degree . I've always wanted to be an executive for a shoe company and I'm with a company now that's giving me the opportunity to make that happen.
