You keep specifically referring to the GOP when I am referring to the concept of politicians and elected officials in general. You make unrealistic expectations during your campaign knowing you can't meet said expectations as easily or they were realistic in the first place. You only do so in order to inspire hope and win said position. You can not meet those expectations and criteria even if you knew you couldn't in the first place, yet still find a way to win and remain in office and even have people making excuses for you of why you couldn't.

If you say you're going to do something at a job and/or have a performance review and don't meet said expectations, what do you think is going to happen? Now take that same logic and apply to politics.

What unrealistic expectation did Biden make? He was straight up about what he was going to do during his campaign and hasn't deviated from it thus far.

Also not suffering consequences for lying is on the voters not the politicians they have no incentive to actually be truthful or back up their shyt because Americans are retarded and refuse to educate themselves. IE look at the fukking OP of this thread for example.

Then don't make specific promises if you knew they were unrealistic in the first place or had a tough time passing in the first place.

A lot of people had unrealistic expectations of what Democrats could/would do if they won control of the Senate and unfortunately it doesn't work like that. Said party didn't help matters either by making said promises knowing that they couldn't be done at all. That's politics for you and my exact premise of my complaint. That's why I hated the talk when people thought you could pack the SC with however many people you wanted to or increase the number at all.
Well, my advice is that ppl who don't understand politics should look into learning more about it so they won't presume things getting their hopes up. Also, it's not the Dems responsibility in making bills to satisfy Republicans' wants and demands just to get things passed, maybe it's time for the GOP to stop being cruel, have some heart and help the ppl.

At the end of the day, most ppl will remember the one who tried to help them whether or not the help came through. Ppl will also remember the one who blatantly had no interest whatsoever in helping them.

Which is why the GOP lost hard this election season because ppl saw how they acted when it came to relief packages. Dems might've not gotten everything they wanted out of these proposed packages but at the end of the day, they made the effort to help ppl. Republicans didn't and it cost them.

His party made unrealistic expectations that they knew they couldn't easily meet if they took control of the Senate. The $600 which I said from the beginning should go down as it wasn't feasible long term. The "Hazard Pay" which wasn't realistic in the first place as how do you determine who/what jobs are considered essential workers? Even Chuck mentioned wanting to forgive $50,000 in student loans which we all knew was not realistic, so why bring it up and create unrealistic expectations at all?

Finally, during the Barrett confirmation there was a lot of talk of packing the courts to counter the Republican majority. Biden said he wouldn't do it, but it didn't stop his fellow party members from mentioning the idea in the first place.

That means a lot of site don't understand politics if they actually believed that a lot of things would happen if their party won. You can look up threads and comments all on this site about the ideas and concepts that people had would happen once Democrats won control of the Senate. Politicians said and created those expectations, so I can't blame people for having false hope that it would be done as said politicians and elected officials say.

That said concept doesn't fly in the real world, so I don't understand why people are willing to give politicians any time of leeway when it comes to that. You can take what the government gives you while also still being a Democrat and mentioning that they didn't follow up on their word. Some dudes on here have the mindset that you take what the government gives and shut up when you know they don't follow that same concept off this site and in the real world.

Complain about the dems if you want. shyt every politician deserves harsh criticism if warranted dems or republicans. But this whole both sides shyt is low IQ bullshyt. You literally have a white supremacist party that doesn’t beleive in providing education healthcare or any public welfare or rights tax paying citizens deserve against a party with people such as Bernie Sanders are called socialist for wanting to help the people of this country. Treason was committed by these stupid motherfukkers amd we really want to keep acting like they the same party. Just shut up. You sound like a 3rd grader who doesn’t understand politics. Get a life. shyt on them without the vote mockery. It’s racist and ignorant. They used to hang us for voting. Count how many jellybeans was in a jar...Trump is out. Deal with it:umad:

how you gonna say a party who wants you to have zip is the same as a party who proposed this act in the first place :francis: public information. Use the web. Watch C-Span or something. Get a book on politics:picard:you are embarrassing yourself

We haven't had a politician like bernie run nationally in a long ass time. I'm not inclined to believe that they had anything but pure fear driving them. They fukking our futures with this bullshyt now we gonna be stuck with Kamala's cop ass after Biden is gone and they'll be long dead while we deal with he consequences.
I allowed myself to idealistic and I voted for Bernie in the SC primaries I even tried to talk elders around me into it who normally solicit my advice but they all hit me with the

Serious question.... what do you think it will take for people to finally have had enough and allow the actual rise of a legitimate third party that can actually compete with Democrats and Republicans? Do you think it can or will happen in our lifetime?

Our government is specifically designed for that never to happen. Also the GOP has changed like 3 times in 30 years. People need to realize you have to take over a party we have keep progressives until they out number right winger Democrats. The other outcome is well to murder the politicians and burn everything down which is what the right is trying to do because they want a dictator. if we can avoid all out

You clearly have a lack of understanding how politics works. Lots of politicians talk about positions publicly in order to test how the general population feels about it. Chuck and Liz bringing up 50k was them trying to push Biden and trying to get outside pressure to push Biden to use an EO to cancel up 50k of debt. That’s political 101 and you completely ignored what I said about the democrats literally being 3 different parties and political positions rolled into one. That’s your major mistake in a nutshell.

I know that there are three different parties rolled into one, which is why I asked the question about the realistic chance of a 3rd party becoming a legitimate candidate. At some point, those parties are going to splinter. The question is when they do, will enough people and donors join in to actually make them a threat.

So the 50K was a political ploy in the same way that the Heroes Act and $600 unemployment. None realistic options, but only used as a talking point which some people on this site still don't realize. The problem with political ploys is that you create unrealistic expectations to voters that you know won't happen. That's politics for you and the name of the game, unfortunately some still don't see that.

No your best bet is to take over a party the way the Tea Party people took over the Republican party after Obama's election. Like the Democrats loss seats in the house, but the progressives increased their numbers. That's your best best bet to get good progressive legislation, our government is designed to really never allow for a 3rd party. Anyone talking about a third party is just living in a dream world. Leftists talking about that shyt annoy me.

Unfortunately the main power players in the Democratic party are controlled by the non-Progressives and likely will be for the time being. They just don't have the power or the majority to full take over yet.

Do I think they eventually will? Yes. Anytime soon? No because once those power players in the leadership leave there will others willing to take their place and operate the same mantra. That's why I have mentioned feeling bad AOC in how Nancy seems to spite her any opportunity she gets.

I don't think it's fair to call a genuine effort from the leading member of the senate and Liz an "Political ploy" when it's obviously them trying to create outside pressure to push the president to use his executive power to do something big for Americans on day 1. It's smart politics IMO, but I can see how if you're cynical you'd see it that way. I appreciate chuck and Nancy for doing that, but ultimately what needs to be done is to eliminate ALL student debt for every American and put caps in place for the cost of secondary education to insure this never happens again. Unfortunately the only way we'll get away from means testing is to elect more progressives

Nancy is just about done, and she's losing people while AOC is gaining people. There's a reason AOC was just named to a committee.... She sees what's going on around her. She'll be out after two more years thankfully.

*I'm going to condense and combine both talking points and responses into one.

The reason I consider it as a political ploy is that I view the concept of politics as inspiring false hope knowing that it's a lot of forces that go into accomplishing said talking points and making them happen.

If you're referring to the Energy and Commerce panel, then she lost out to Kathleen Rice in a secret vote. Some of the members actually called her out and said that she isn't essentially playing the game and doesn't have enough support in her party to make it happen.

Sure I can see that point, I just think we're going to agree to disagree there.

She was named to the House financial services, oversight and reform committee after that entire Kathleen Rice debacle. She got fukked over in that whole Kathleen right deal. Which was very public and ugly and think that's why she ended up getting named to this committee.
