NBA HOF, so it includes international play as well as overall contributions to the league. He was and probably still is China's most recognizable athlete and made basketball huge over there. He was unbelievably popular everywhere. You could argue at one point he had one of the biggest fanbases of any athlete ever. One of the only guys next to Kobe who you could pencil in for an All-Star game nom every year (regardless of health). That popular. Once you factor in significance to China+NBA achievements+international play, he's not the weakest candidate to get in.

What is delaying his entry is lack of championship at any of the high levels. AI at least has the MVP and the bronze in 2004, not to mention the Gold medal at the FIBA championship in 1995.

If C-Webb had a title, whether it be NCAA, NBA, Olympics, or even an MVP, he would be in by now.

Yao Ming is a hall of famer, not really sure how it can be argued that he is NOT.

Longevity? Eh, you have a small argument. But he had a good prime and was starting to abuse all the centers in the league for a short time. He shytted all over future Hall of Famer Dwight Howard as pointed out many times by @Malta

Nba is all about its international stamp. That's the only reason Yao is getting in. 80 years from now, Asians would still vote Yao's corpse into the all star game if it was allowed.

Webber and Yao's stats are pretty close. Granted, Webber played longer, which affects his stats.

However, as great as he was, Webber doesn't have any key wins in his resume. No MVP. No NBA titles. No FIBA championship. No NCAA titles.

That's what's holding him back. He will make it to the Hall, most def.
