Weird how ratings have crashed with Shane in charge and putting on "better shows" with newer, fresher talent. The internet doesn't want to admit that what they want is not what the majority wants, and will blame it all on Roman instead.
To be fair, the ratings BEEN going down for years.

Has he even had a feud with a full-time peer OVER the belt yet?

Every time they have a chance to build something significant against a peer, someone gets hurt or they're a part-timer.

They've tried to do Roman vs. Seth twice. Roman got hurt and then Seth got hurt.

They gave Bray a turn a week after Mania and made him face off with Reigns. He's hurt.

Did him vs. D-Bry. Their brawl on the go-home was fire. Their match was good. Could've been a nice feud down the line, but no more D-Bry.

Like Stan Hansen said at the HOF ceremony: you need opponents. They had this dude facing old Attitude Era guys and Sheamus for the better part of 2 years on TV.

Let him rock with some workers that the crowd perceive as a threat before we judge.

First of all, what crash are you talking about, because ratings have been consistently terrible for a long time and I cant imagine theyve gotten much worse just lately. Have they dipped below 2.0 yet because thats been the threshhold for awhile now.

Second of all, ratings fluxuations have always been on the current champ at the time, particularly when he's acknowledged not just as the kayfabe champ but as THE GUY that the company wants as alpha dog. So if there has been any ratings crash, its on Roman and especially the terrible build and terrible execution of this year's yawn-worthy Mania.

Third of all, "the internet" fans somehow being seperate from "real life" fans, is an ancient wrestlefag copout that has zero truth in 2016. Internet fans are the people attending real-life shows and the people attending real-life shows are on the internet. They are one in the same and crowds absolutely shytting on Reigns every week and cheering the same guys that are "smark favorites" proves it.

There is still a big disconnect between the IWC and people who go to shows/watch shows but don't sit around and talking about it all day on message boards or sub to the Observer. The last month of Raw has used Shane as an avatar to try to phase in booking techniques (and talent) from NXT, and "the internet" has enjoyed Raw because of it while ratings have gone down each week because normal fans who don't give a shyt about the backstage drama don't want to see it.

All the things the internet fans have been calling for to improve Raw have done nothing but make the ratings continue to freefall.

Diesel had some good to great matches as champ

@ OP, way too early to say, for the same reason that I've never considered Daniel Bryan, who I have in my top 10 all time, as a "Main event champ"

Difference is, Roman's first title defense is against an all-time great worker, while Bryan's first defense was against Kane

It would be difficult to have bad matches with hitgoat hbk and razor thi

 I'm not a fan of the "Robot" nickname.

his gimmick was conceived by someone else, his dialogue is written by someone else, his catchphrases are written by someone else... he is literally a hollow shell for vince and his writers to infuse whatever they want.

robot does whatever he's programmed to do.

Diesel was garbage. And he was just as bad on the mic back then like Roman was. If Diesel didn't have a match with an elite worker, his match would be .

That's the weirdest way to judge someone I've ever seen in wrestling. "He sucked because he could have good matches with good wrestlers."

Another entry in the this series.

Diesel and wce nash were the personification of trash.
Hbk was trash as far as a character and his ring work. Was severely dated as well.
All because wwf was far from a progressive work rate wise.
So, people that overrate hbk are just wwf bias.
As NWA already had superior workers up and down the card predating hickenbottom by close to seven to eight years already.
While, alternatively hbk was failing to draw as a rock roll express ripoff against tanaka and crew in awa. Where his only good work is an impromptu brawl.
Plus, was a failure as a Morton replacement in a ready made five star match template.
That if he was so great would have been able to make quality of.
Later in the wwf,....
If not for Gibson kickin his ass and it being used as the catalyst.
to have gibson removed from the entire wwf because of it.
Hbk may have never been a singles guy.
